So you say you want a vehicle that can out-accelerate AND out-handle a Ferrari Enzo but don't think you can afford that kind of performance? Sure you can. You just need to give up two wheels :D

No test data out yet, but all manufacturers claim nearly 180hp at the crank for their new 1000cc race replicas.

And now the Tuning Fork folk.

The Tomohawk is not a GM, it's a Dodge. It uses a Dodge Viper engine. Yes, I've seen it, and it's rediculous. Have you noticed it has no raditor? How exactly do they plan to cool that V-10? It certainly isn't air-cooled. It has no cooling fins.

Even if it does actually run, it looks like a straight-line-only machine, which is the antithesis of what motorcycles are all about. Motorcycles are all about carving corners, not 1/4 mile madness.

I am ignorant about bikes... they are more than 250 cc right? I want to go for one of those when I get a motorbike licence....

It will be very cool.

I think will be cooler than driving an 8

About 1000cc on all of em, DO NOT get one of these as your first bike. Get something used and with less power. And where's the dam Ducati? :p I'd ask for a Bimota but... they are no more :( God I loved those bikes.

The 999 is OK, but the 999R Fila is just awesome. Hopefully my next ride. Currently I need a bigger garage:

My current ride. I want to keep this bike forever. Dynoed @ 112 HP (Chip and Arrow pipes) and 72 lb-ft torque. Has half the power and torque of the RX8, but wheights 85% less. Do the math. Love V twins:

Bikes are cool. There scary fast. Fun to ride. Speed wobbles @100mph are bad. I'll stick to my Specialized S-Works Enduro. I can't afford a nother hobby. Peddle power to the people.

Performance

400m takes 10ish seconds (All tests I've read are between 9.4 and 10.4 seconds)
Speed at 400m 235kph (All test I've read are between 232 and 238km)
0-100 takes about 3 seconds (All tests I've read hover between 3 and 3.5 seconds)
Top speed : 300kph (All test I've read hover between 291 and 317kph in varying conditions)
6th gear 60 - 120km Hayabusa 4.9 secs (Australian Performance Streetbike magazine)
6th gear 60 - 120km Blackbird 6.1 secs (Australian Performance Streetbike magazine)
6th gear 60 - 120km GSX-R 6.8 secs (Australian Performance Streetbike magazine)
6th gear 60 - 120km ZZ-R1100 7.2 secs (Australian Performance Streetbike magazine)
0-200kph takes about 7.6 secs

Claimed :
175bhp at 9800 rpm at the crank - 1999 stock version no mods.

Tests average :
157bhp at back wheel - 1999 stock version no mods.
There are now heaps of performance enhancements which show that with appropriate mods 200 reliable bhp is although expensive relatively easy to achieve.

Top Speed :
Claimed top speed is at least 200 MPH or about 321KPH for 1999 models.
Top speed is at least 189 MPH for late 2000 and 2001 models onwards.
Top Speed as measured by the Guiness Book of Records 2000 edition is 317KPH

The Hayabusa has double the BHP and torque compared to the CBR600.
The CBR600 needs to rev to 10,000 rpm to generate the same power as the Hayabusa at 5,500 RPM
The Hayabusa produces 20-25bhp more than the R1 at any given speed.

If you mean the GSX-R1000, you're right. The other 1000cc superbikes I listed are all gunning for the Gixxer, both in street trim and in the AMA Superbike series. Matt Mladin won that series this year with a Gixxer 1000, and Honda want the title back that they won last year with the RC-51. Kawasaki and Yamaha both want to deny Honda and Suzuki the title next year.

If you're talking about the GSX-1300R Hayabusa, you're wrong. All the Japanese manufacturers agreed to limit the top speed of their bikes to 300kph, so the top speed wars are over for now.

Since we were referencing the 1000cc bikes, naturally I'm talking about the GSX-R1000. The Hyabusa is a totally different monster in its own right.
