Mazdaspeed Sport Dual Muffler Exhaust Crack

I bought this in May of 2006 from Rosenthal Mazda. I just discovered that it has a crack next to the welding on one of the cans. Is this covered under any warranty, I put it on the car myself?

Same **** happened to mine. I think they get tossed around to much during shipping and it cracks the welds.
If you have a the receipt (sp) you can take it to a Mazda speed auth dealer and get it fixed.
I tossed mine out so I just went to an exhaust shop and they charged me 30$ to weld the gaps closed (you will noticed a sound drop), mine was cracked in 3 different places.

So I got it welded today, the owner of the muffler shop said that this is common with stainless steel mufflers, he says it is because of static vibration. He said that eventually the other side will crack too.

I think anybody with stainless steel should check their welds.

Yes, all the penetration was on the pipe and little on the muffler, hence it broke away from the muffler..

I was building a race exhaust for autocross yesterday and inspected my Mazdaspeed v2 exhaust when we took it off the car. The welds on my dual mufflers had failed in the same location as the OP. My friend patched it up and she's good as new -- took about 10 minutes with the exhaust off the car.
