Anyone try Sea Foam?

I have used this before on my other cars to get rid of carbon buildup if there is any.

Wondering if this is safe to use on the 8? I did a search but came up with nothing.

rx7club is the best! I used seaform a number of times on older 13b's on that have been sitting around for a while.

on start up, be sure to have the car outside of the garage. you will be treated to a smoke show if you don't.

Just used it today, in fact. I was changing the oil before the 1700 miles round trip to Utah this week, so I figured I see what happens.

A collosal cloud of smoke. Unbelievable.
I can't say how much of that was engine junk. When I put the turbo back on tonight (yet another crack in the manifold) I'll see if there is any net difference in engine vacuum or compression.

Had to be through a Vacuum line or straight into the intake somehow - would not make that kind of smoke when diluted down in with the gas.

Just wanted to see if I could get a little feedback from someone with more technical knowledge than I. I used this stuff yesterday on my 8, which has around 42k miles on it, to clean out any build up I may be experiencing. I've used it on my fiance's Hyundai before without problems (vacuum line), but when I fed it to my car I experienced something bothersome. I followed the directions as usual and it drove normally up until it warmed up and I tried to redline it. That's when I experienced my first misfire ever.

I reached around 6.5k on the tach, which I believe is when the secondary ports open, and it lost power, made a strange almost gurgling noise, popped with a plume of smoke out the tailpipe, and after about 5-10 seconds returned to normal. Could the Sea Foam have built up behind the secondary ports and just dumped all at once into the chamber causing a hiccup? Is there any reason for me to fear for the longevity of my car now? Also, how could I change the way I do this next time to avoid this result? Thanks in advance.

Very likely.
Which vacuum nipple did you use?

I am of the opinion that the best way to do this is to draw in the SeaFoam as it is indicated on the can and then pull the spark plugs and squirt some more in and rotate the motor until you have saturated all 6 combustion chambers and let it sit for several hours.
Then, pull the ESS connector and pack some paper towels around the still open plug holes, floor the gas and crank it for a few seconds.
Then, do the same with the butterflies for the secondaries held open.

Put the plugs back in, reconnect the ESS and start it.

SeaFoam is pretty invasive stuff. You will still have all kinds of smoke and bad behavior for a couple of miles or more - I know I did and it scared me a bit, but the net result was more compression, so I'd say it works and it is worth it.

ESS = Eccentric Shaft position Sensor.
You can reach it from under the car. Its on the front, slightly to the right (driver-side) pointed towards the floor on a bracket that points it at the crank pulley.
