I have been doing a lot of research on the Mazda's 2004 RX-8 (6MT) and the Nissan's 350Z and I must tell you that even though the Z has more horse power, I'd still have to go with the 8 for the styling and handeling. Starting from the inside and working my way out, I found that the interior of the 8 totally dominated in looks and functionality over the Z. The trick rear doors are a major plus and allow for an easy entrance to the back seat. Not to mention an untangled escape when trying to remove your body from the car. With the Z, obviously there is no back seat, so I wont even continue with that topic.

From the outside, the styling of the 8 once again dominates over the Z. Even from the rear of the car, the 8 looks much better then the Z's posture (the Z looks like a frog takeing a dump from behind).

Here's my problem. Although I've only barely touched in mentioning what I have found between the two cars here in this forum, I am sure most of you know the details already, so ~

I am so in love with this car. In fact I have seriously been having dreams of driving this wonderfully entising piece of machinery. I have been to the dealership multiple times just to be able to touch it. Each time, the dealer wants me to get inside and give it a test drive. I know that if I do, I will end up buying the car right on the spot. I dont even think I would leave the "cockpit" to sign the papers. I must wait untill Feb. of 2004 before I can get it for personal reasons (I just want to get other debt out of the way first), but it is so hard for me to keep from teasing myself. I love this car. I've got the screen saver, the wallpaper for my desktop, accessories lists, printed window sticker pricing to show everything I want pre-installed on the car. *ugh* My girlfriend is jealous of a car I haven't even bought yet (I keep reassuring her that there are things she does for me that the car could never do without damaging my manhood). ~okay, lets scratch that image from our minds ~

Anyway, I suppose I just wanted to vent a little. I am in need of this vehicle and just cant seem to be as patient as I need to be.

that's an interesting thought. Nothing against the Z or its owners, but I always thought that the Z is a Porsche 911-wanna-be. Am I the only one with that thought???

The 350Z does not come even remotely close to a Porsche...

It's like calling the RX8 the poor man's ferarri..

i for one have no problem with the look of the z or it's brother the g35. i think they are both awesome looking cars. but i have no regrets at all about choosing the 8.

Cold8Fusion, you've found the right place here. Your story sounds a bit like mine, back in May. Of course, I couldn't go to see one at the dealership, much less drive away with one. I did pre-order one though.

Had a stack of printouts & stuff a foot thick. Couldn't get enough info on what was kind of an imaginary car back then.

Glad you've joined the forum, you'll fit right in.

Waiting for your tax returns?

About the 350Z, I did notice the Porsche Carrera resemblance one day not too long ago on a highway. I shook off the thought, thinking I was wrong to think that. But, hey!

Hah! The day I got my RX8, I was coming home on the freeway.

Low and behold what came up behind me as we hit some congestion? A 911 AND a 350Z.

We swerved in and out of traffic, the 911 was cool, and we both gave thumbs up. We did manage to lose the 350Z in traffic, but we were swerving pretty hard ;) Could see the Z accelin' pretty hard to try to play, too.

Any of you park your car away form the main cars, and as you walk away.... you look back, and people start walking towards you car with big wide eyes?

Just got back from a trip. Too many of these type stories to remember. We stopped at a rest stop, came back to the car to find a guy waiting there for us so he could talk with us. Another, at a gas station, pretty much everyone there complemented on the car.

"I wonder what kind of car that is?" "I don't know, daddy, but it has a bird on the front" Daddy came to the car when my wife got in it, with his arms out, like he was flying. Silly fool. :D Everyone was asking what kind of car that is inside the gas station.

Man, I could go on & on about this, for just a one-week trip! Not bad for a $30k car! I never got anywhere near this kind of attention with a car & I've owned many new cars.

Who wants a poor mans porsche? Its not like the boxter is that good anyhow, and that is a porsche. Now a CarreraGT is another matter hmmmmV10..612Bhp... aaaarg.. £310,000 I;'d rather not tho.

As for poor mans ferrari, there can be only 1! And its coming to a shore near you April 2004:D

Lots of cars attempt to copy Porsches. I don't think the Z looks like the 911 that much really. Remember, the second generation Rx-7 was an attempt to copy the styling of the 944 as admitted by Mazda.

Stay on your original plan, and don't let yourself be tempted. Many of us here pre-ordered, and had to wait 6+ months, but the wait was more than worthe it.

You only have 4 months left. Keep the faith Cold8Fusion.
