I am not a big fan of the older style Lexus IS series. They are quick enough, but I have never liked the boxy look. For me, it's the 8.

a few of the rotor head celebs on this board would burn me at the stake for
such a novice introductory inquiry and for that i apologize. I really want to
join the rx8 nation I just can't seem to pull the trigger. anyway thanks to
those that have provided helpful information and opinions along the way.

I will remain envious!!

Seems a little high, unless it's in perfect condition. Make sure the tires have plenty of tread left, and TEST DRIVE IT! And that should be Titanium Gray, not Graphite Gray.

The Lexus is a bore.

well that is a good price but the is300 is also a nice car. depends on the price for the is and mileage and whether is is manual 5spd imo.

i would probabaly trade my rx8 for a is300 to be honest but only a manual and I could never leave the IS stock. too boring of a car in stock form.

Honestly I think the IS series is a joke... not the most comparable cars. Even the new IS series is nothing compared to the BMW 3s or Infiniti G35. I know, they were the other cars I was considering. Then again, I never liked Lexus because they do not cater to sports car enthusiasts.

Short, go for the Rx-8 or look for more options. If you like the IS type thing, the Audi 4 was my favorite of the low end luxury cars.

Well....let's see....you posted in a RX-8 board...more than likely 98% of the members own an 8...so what do you think? Did you post the same question at IS300.net? Just curious.

Many of us choose the RX-8 for our own reasons, of which I am sure consisted of comparison shopping. All comes down to personal taste.

I agree....

One ride in both and the only area where the Toyota has a slight edge is gas mileage. Everywhere else, chassis/handling/engine/steering/interior the advantage is heavily RX-8.

One of them is purpose-built performance; the other, I'm willing to bet (knowing how Toyota operates) is built from a shitbox platform. Which one would you want to drive?
