Greetings to all. Been lurking for the past couple weeks and decided I had to join since I just brought home my new RX8. Velocity Red, Sport AT, Nav. Test drove the MT on Saturday and loved it! For medical reasons though went with the AT. Traded in an 02 Nissan Frontier Supercharged Crewcab Longbed 4x4 so this is a HUGE switch. Winter will be interesting and FUN! 10 miles on the odometer when I drove it off the lot.
Interesting part was driving home watching the Nav. Everything was great except when I turned on the road to my apartment. The apartment is quite new and the Nav system showed me driving off into a black hole. Literally drove off the map! Guess the Nav system doesn't know where home is. Anyone have some insight on how to update the Nav?

Hi....glad to see another excited RX 8 owner. Watch out for those black holes though. I am getting the GT pkg and automatic.......not for medical reason's....just hate shifting. I have driven both and did not feel comfortable w/all that power on the manual.....I am a wimp. The auto was fun.....the car handles like a dream and my driving does change......I drive faster and crazier cuz it handles so nicely. It's such a cool car with unique features. Enjoy! I will!

Welcome! I don't have a nav. & I don't know how to update it. Sorry on both counts. (Wish I had one now) Do some searching here & you'll probably get lucky...
It's on a DVD it can't be updated unless you purchase a new disc, they probably won't have a new one for a couple of years.
Welcome Bolder8!! I think you and I have the same sales gal do we not? She told me she sold one just like that the other day. Hopefully I will be getting mine very soon. We'll have to meet up then.

Congrats, dude, on your fine choice of cars. There will be new DVDs every year and what you got with your car is the latest and greatest (I called and checked.) So be patient; they will prob mail you something when the new disc is available. It'll be around $150.
However, you said it was black once you turned off the road. If you were on a private road or large parking lot that'll never show up on the map. It just has public roads.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!
Yes Wave, we probably have the same sales gal. It would be great to meet up with some other owners around the area! Judging from the amount of attention I get with just one vehicle I can only imagine the crowd we would draw with 2, 3 or more cruising together.
I found the website for navtech and I'm posting some updates to their site for the roads that are missing. The road leading to my apartment also goes to a police station so I would think they would want that on their maps! Plus one other road 2 miles from me does not show up as connecting through to a major shopping center. This is a relatively new development within the last 2-3 years so I hope the next update contains the information.
I've only had one problem with the car so far and notified the dealership immediately. I can't seem to get the car to go anywhere because everytime I get near it a crowd gathers round and won't let me leave!!! :D
