Here's the car stats:

Touring Mazda RX-8, Touring Galaxy Grey. 6-sp MT. Used (It's the demo)
31590 msrp to 29090 knock down because it's not what I wanted and it's been used.

Sport Mazda RX-8, Brilliant Black, 6-sp MT.

I don't like grey, I don't need and want a moonroof (Leaks)

How much is the black one?

Sunroofs don't leak unless there's something wrong with it.

Whatever you do ... please dont paint it purple and get neons like your sig mentions, plus it already has two exhaust and this isnt a ricer

LOL, wow, that dealership is trying to take you for a ride. If they sell that dog off for only $2k off the NEW sticker price, that salesman will be promoted to upper management. I bet you could get one of those things brand new and equipped exactly how you want it for FAR less than that. Plus, that car has also probably been ridden harder than a cheap...street walker, so it's probably worn beyond its mileage. Personally, I'd politely tell them to jam that offer right back where it came from and start looking elsewhere (and let them know you're doing so). Then, watch them dance.

Basically, just say you could get one brand new for less than that price, thank them, then say you're just going to look somewhere else since their numbers aren't working out. Betcha that "rock bottom" price becomes not so "rock bottom" anymore.

Some advice: don't give them payment numbers if they ask. Give them an out the door PRICE you want to pay - but don't give them your actual target, throw like $22k at them or some absurdly low figure and let them work from there. Have an actual price range in mind though - say, maybe, $25k for example - do some research to find a fair price - but never mention THAT price to the dealer. They'll probably laugh at the low price, but tell them that's your ideal and that you're willing to listen to any offers they may have (and stick with that low number when talking with them - they're going to keep trying to get you to move your "threshold" higher). If they still mock you, just leave - you don't need to buy from a guy who doesn't want to make a sale. It's their job to sell you the car, not yours to pay too much. Make them come to your terms or go elsewhere.

Also, was there a price hike? Do touring models actually go for $31k new? I thought that was GT territory. Is there some pinstriping, Mop n' Glo, "Rust Proofing", or other such worthless razmataz on that car?

Take the time to do the research and don't get burned. This is only a start, but it will go a long way to saving you money!

Yeah, that's about what my GT was in 2005, but got it for $29.5k out the door. I always deal out the door price, no bullshit, no nothing. I don't care how they work the numbers.............and don't ever, ever play the game........."Well, how much can you afford a month". You gotta be able to walk away.

Black and purple are my favorite colors, just enough purple to make it relatively noticed (I'd like it to be all black during day but when the sun reflects, some of the purple shines.)

thats the best advice right there for buying a car, do your own math about what it would cost payments and figure out the total out the door price then just keep on them to get it to what you want. if they dont match what you want walk away they want your business they will call back and continue to look elsewhere for what you want.

They want 2k off for a demo? Thats not even top trim? Must be out of their damn minds. It's worth about $23k.

Just wait a bit, the rebates on new RX8's will start flooding in in a couple of months.....Oh did I say flooding? I mean coming in.

Or check around for a left over if there are any. I picked up my '05 GT on May 1 '06 for $24,800.

Brand new GTs are usually in that price range. I got mine new for $23.5k because I waited all the way until January of the next year to buy it. Wait 9 months to save $10k? More than worth it.

Too bad you don't work for a Ford Partner. Got mine for 27k in Feb 2004 and the only thing this GT doesn't have is nav.

Mine was a demo and I got it well below 29G. You're not done negotiating.
