New RX8 owner in Plano, TX

Just wanna introduce myself. Recently got a new job out of college, picked up a lightly used Velocity Red, 6MT, 2005 RX8 with 20k miles on it.

Looking for some rotary people to give me some tips as most of my buddies are VW fans.

Just had the motor mounts replaced recently, still have a little rocking here and there. Dont know if its normal, and wanted to see if a fellow 8 owner would want to take my car for a spin to see if anything is wrong with it, if it feels like its making the right amount of power etc.

Vasichko, welcome to the group. Feel free to come out to the DFW meets that we have every other Thursday (last night in fact). You can check out other 8's and we'll be happy to take a look at yours as well.

Wow I guess Im lucky.

I was looking at 8s on Auto Trader and saw El Dorado Mazda in McKinney had a Velocity Red one, 6MT. No picture was up yet, I called and the guy in the used cars department said they had just gotten in 3 days before and they havent had the time to take pictures yet. Same morning he sent me pictures, I went out there, looked at it, test drove it, and bought it the next day.

Just had it taken in for the motor mount recall. I dont know how much play there is in the drive train but I still feel a bit of a rocking motion if I let off the gas, so that is why Im wanting some people to check my car out to see if there is anything else I need to take it in for.

I live at Midway and Plano Pkwy. Work Beltline and Tollway.

So is there supposed to be a slight rocking feeling when tapping the gas and letting off? I also get it shifting through the gears as well.

Just had both motor mounts replaced, maybe another one is bad or maybe the differential mounts are gone?

Cool sounds good. I live in Plano and work in Dallas.

Loving the car so far aside from the minor issues, cant wait to get modding.

Hi I'm a Mazda3 guy (probably the only white modded hatch you'll see in the area). I still want an 8 haha.

Check out the dfwmazdas.com forums, they're a pretty friendly bunch too. Only a couple RX8's on there though.

There is also Dallasimports.net (which I mod), but it's kinda going downhill. Too much attitude.

Yeah I dont really care too much for DI.

This forum seems to be very welcoming from my opinion.

You have a 3, still Mazda so Im sure no one here would have a problem with that.

Where at in the DFW area do you live?

Hey guys. I just wanted to say Hi as well. (Sorry Vasichko, I'm not trying to hijack your thread)

I just got an 8 as well and live right outside Dallas in Mesquite.

I got a pretty sweet deal as well. 06 6MT with only 4k miles on it.

This is my first MT though and I had to learn when I drove it off the lot so if you see a Galaxy Gray 8 stalled at a red light, please don't honk too much :P.

Sweet, welcome.

Yeah when its your first MT it takes a while at first but you will get there. 4k miles on it is nice. I did find a 06 6MT with 6k miles on it, was considering it, but figured I didnt want a demo car that hadnt been properly broken in yet.

Did you get a GT?
