Hi!

I'm from Montreal and will be spending my vacation time this year in Maine and New-Brunswick.

I'd like to get advice on the itinerary I picked between Old Orchard, Maine and St. John, NB. Link to Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=st-john,+nb&daddr=US-1+%4044.960540,+-67.161390+to:44.768187,-67.195129+to:US-1+%4044.504400,+-67.921830+to:US-1+%4044.146540,+-69.088210+to:US-1+%4044.101510,+-69.125020+to:Gold+Star+Memorial+Hwy%2FI-95+S%2FMaine+Turnpike+%4043.557900,+-70.420910+to:old+orchard+beach,+maine&mrcr=1,2&mrsp=2&sz=9&mra=dpe&sll=45.180101,-67.068787&sspn=1.434561,3.652954&ie=UTF8&ll=44.527843,-68.016357&spn=2.901745,7.305908&z=8&om=1).

As you can see, I'd prefer taking scenic roads in my 8 and enjoying the drive instead of driving in a straight line for hours, however my Dad says the road I picked might not be a good idea. He says the "1" in Maine is dotted with small towns and every time I'll ride thru one I'll the speed limit will be down and I will end up driving for several more hours than if I had taken the highway 95 all the way.

I'd like to find a middle ground between "boring highway" and "potholed roads at 35mph".

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the links, it really has some great byways :)

However anyone can tell me if the "1" is a good road? Will I be able to keep a good pace or is there just too much small towns to go thru?
