Want to rich up the RX-8 from 3750 to 5700 and lean it out elsewhere?
http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics_safc.asp
I'm thinking that this, or another MAF sensor 'adjuster' may be the most sensible solution in getting the RX-8 running leaner through the rest of the RPM range, and can probably get us back a lot of power at the top end.. Canzoomer looks to have doen something similar to this, but I'm thinking that this would be a very nice and simple solution...
Anyone tried anything like it? or care to comments?

Ive used SAFC's in my Civic and DSM with the DSM I use it to fine tune a lot and it works quite well.
The only thing with installing one on the RX8 is knowing which wires go where, unless we can get a scan of the ecu pinouts or someone with a wiring manual to tell us which lines go where (canzoomer?) we would be in the dark and would have to wait till Apexi releases their own diagram for install.
the SAFC2 (the one with the rotary dial) is a lot nicer than the first SAFCs and can contain two different maps (say one racegas one pump) and more adjustable points and readings from from the knock sensor.

yeah I just got my safc2 and have been looking for hours for ANY data at all on how to hook up the SAFC2 and I'm coming up with nothing at all. Can anybody help us find a pinout diagram?

I dont think anybody here actually use safc2. does it even work with rx-8 at all ?
you also might want to check the post date of the thread. dude its dated back in 2003.

thanks nycgps I didn't even notice that. I was in a huge rush looking for as much information as could find. I appreciate you're help upon further researching there is an option on the safc2 to select a rotary which I just found out online but earlier models didn't have that they were only firmwared reciprocating engines. And I think I also found the appropriate pinout diagram I just have to take a look at my ECU for compatability. But as I did my looking around at fuel computer topics I did find that E-manage systems are more popular.

I think AccessPort is what you should be looking for. but at this point, you have to get the tunning map from MM.
This will change when Cobb release their software. god knows when tho ~

SAFC won't do anything useful on the RX-8.
