View Full Version : Recommend a movie for Jethro
Jethro Tull 07-03-2007, 08:39 AM I can't think of any group more qualified to ask for entertainment advice, than other RX-8 owners. What a discriminating, elite group of individuals...:)
I've got the next 5 days off work, thinking of taking Mrs. Tull to a movie. Looking for recommendations.
We usually only see 3 or 4 movies a year in the theater, preferring to see most at home. We'll go only if it really benefits from being seen on a big screen, so bear that in mind. Most chick flicks don't need a big screen (hint, hint) and I'm not fond of cop shows or shoot-em-ups.
So, what do you give 2 thumbs up for?
TIA!
alfy28 07-03-2007, 08:48 AM Office Space and Half Baked gets my 2 thumbs up :)
Steakboy42 07-03-2007, 09:00 AM in theaters right now? well, sorta right now. Transformers.

Isn't Transformers a kid's movie? Is there something there for someone who was already an adult when the transformer toys came out?
I'd be willing to see it just for the FX, but convincing Mrs. Tull is another story...

they re-did it. it's all live action with CGI. I hear it's excellent. Look up a movie trailer online.

Yeah, that's looking likely, actually. Mrs. Tull gets weak-kneed for Clooney...
Jedi54 07-03-2007, 11:56 AM see that... Jedi Powers win again. :)
tiggerlee 07-03-2007, 12:00 PM Ratatouille :lol2:

tiggerlee 07-03-2007, 12:26 PM porn...
Brilliant. In that case may I suggest Barely Legal School Girls 3 and Rump Riders.

I heard it was A Knight in Bangcock.
NoTears316 07-03-2007, 01:00 PM I had to dig into my vault to find this recommendation... The Blood of Heroes. It's hard to beat a movie based on a game where instead of using a ball, they use a dog's skull.
Floyd 07-03-2007, 02:17 PM Donnie Darko FTW! Hard to find on DVD though....

omg, no dude...i saw transformers yesterday at 8:30pm (i live in vegas so we get to see it outcoming movies at 8pm the day before release) its probably the best movie ive ever seen in my whole life. If you know anything about the original transformers show it just gives the movie that extra plus. its a semi-shoot-em-up movie so im not sure if ull like it. Probably the best movie of the year imo.
Fortunate Few 07-03-2007, 04:49 PM Donnie Darko FTW! Hard to find on DVD though....
best movie ever by far.
but its fairly easy to find on dvd. they just released the directors cut on dvd last year.
as for the theaters i would suggest pirates 3 (kinda confusing at parts but the ending is really good)
Floyd 07-03-2007, 05:25 PM Is Pan's Labryinth still in theaters?
NoTears316 07-03-2007, 08:52 PM Is Pan's Labryinth still in theaters?
It's been out on DVD for about a month, so I doubt it.
deadphoenix52 07-03-2007, 09:20 PM live free or die hard was pretty good, idk since ur not into that stuff. but id recommend it.
SolarFlare665 07-03-2007, 09:54 PM i'm with tiggerlee on ratatouille...for the dvd rack, either idiocracy or apocalypto
Fortunate Few 07-04-2007, 05:51 AM mmm this might help out your situation a little bit.. as well as any other cheap guy like myself.
www.tv-links.co.uk
go to movies search for one you like, even if its new. watch, enjoy, thank me, send me free stuff.
NoTears316 07-04-2007, 09:05 AM Well, if you want to leave it to a random website to recommend a movie, it might as well be the IMDb top movie list...
http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
Fortunate Few 07-04-2007, 02:56 PM its not random. its basicly all the good movies ever. then bootleg versions of the ones that are still in theater.
