Guys,
I just wanted to share this with you. I've followed the development of the 8 for the past 3+ years and have seen nearly every picture posted on the web from preproduction through presale, but I must say that seeing one "in the flesh" on the road is an incredible experience. My wife and I were commuting home from work last Thursday and she noted that a red RX-8 was coming up behind us. The driver shot past us and tucked in just ahead. We followed him for the next 5 miles and had a chance to observe the car from every angle. From behind the rear and sides of the car look narrower than I expected and I love the way the side panels lead into the front fenders. The wheels spinning at speed look incredible. It truly is WAY different than ANYTHING else on the road. That uniqueness is going to cause a lot of people to take notice and check out the car for themselves. Definitely better than I expected.
Thanks for the compliments Rccaz1 :)

We motorcyclists generally wave to each other when we approach and pass each other. When I was in my RX-8 yesterday, I saw another one for the first time coming towards me. I wanted to wave or something, but didn't want to seem goofy. I wander what fellow Ferrari owners do...?:)

Hey RCCAZ 1,
Glad to know that these 8's look great running as they do when stopped/parked. I'm envious though, I havn't had the opportunity to see one in the "flesh" on the road... but I'll just have to suffer with the view from the inside. ;)
Cheers
I had a guy yesterday probably in his 50's stop was he was walking and I drove buy, he turned around and I swear he was drooling. Man it was funny.
I haven't seen too many driving around, next time I'll try to note the wheels spinning.

RCCAZ 1,
That may have been me on the road! I was driving home from Bell Road Mazda on the 17 to 10 to 60 to East Mesa. Did you notice the driver? You prolly only saw TEETH as I still can't get that silly grin off my face!
Just ordered Zaino and the fender strakes. Wanna get the Night Lites for the cockpit.....

I don't think it was you Slice. This guy lives out in the Ahwatukee Foothills. He was merging onto I-10 at Warner Road and headed out into the Foothills via the new Pecos Road West exit. He was a mid-30s looking dude with a short cropped beard, clip on sunglasses... you know, that kinda hipster look.
Anyway, I'm the president of Rotary Car Club of Arizona and we're always actively seeking new members, especially RX-8 owners. If you are unaware of our club, check out our website at www.rccaz.com. Our club has 35 members, mainly Gen 3 and Gen 2 owners, however we currently have one RX-8 owner and would love to add more.
We just returned from Sevenstock 6 last week and we're holding a wrapup meeting this coming Saturday night from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Scottsdale Pavillions (down the row from Home Depot). Stop by and check us out. It's a great group of guys ranging in age from 21 to 55 who share a passion for rotary-powered vehicles!
Hope you can make it!
