Hey everyone I've been reading these forums for a few months already and have decided to purchase an RX-8. I just want to warn everyone about Anguili Mazda in Staten Island, New York. They are dishonest as they tried to charge me (in addition to the destination charge that is from the factory) an extra "transportation charge" of $520. Also, the salesperson handed me over the contract and wanted me to sign it without it even completely filled out with all the costs. For all you New York owners that have purchased an 8, other than tax, title and license fees, are there any other fees that are normally charged? The sales manager was also saying there was a $100 New York Assessment Fee that all dealers charge. Is that true or is it another one of their bullsh*t charges? (So that I know when I start dealing with other dealers.) So basically I told them that this is bullsh*t and I don't have to deal with it so I just walked out. I heard the sales manager comment to my salesperson "Oh he'll be back" so I responded and said "No I won't."

Also to clarify, before I went in to the dealer, the salesperson and I had agreed upon a price for the car. So i asked him if there would be any other charges/fees in addition to tax, title, and license and he told me no.

I just picked up my 8 from Anguili in SI last week. I was extremely happy with the salesman, John. I wasn't crazy about the 'add-on sales / contract' guy. We negotiated from theMSRP which already included the $520. destnation charge. No hidden surprises.
