View Full Version : I am guilty
6speed8 10-01-2003, 03:33 PM Yes, I am guilty of causing severe neck strain to all the people looking at my car. It is amazing how many people strech their necks while they are driving (and their passengers too) to see my car. Everywhere I go people are VERY interested in the car. The other morning a car with three people in it drove alongside me on the driver's side, then slowed down went behind me and came along side the passenger side. I used to get some looks when I had my 2000 Celica GT-S (when it first came out), but nothing, nothing like this - I love it!
RotorGeek 10-01-2003, 03:34 PM Thats called "Breaking neck"
ECRX-7 10-01-2003, 03:36 PM "Its called Rubber-necking, baby and that's alright with me".... I think that song on the Solara commercial would be better suited to the RX-8
emailists 10-01-2003, 03:45 PM C'mon.... who is really guilty..... of hooking up just cause they have the RX-8. And I dont mean hooking up, like during wheelspin. WHoose got the dirt? Does this car just impress guys? I doubt it. Maybe we need a "hooking up" poll. CHeck the action you have gotten just for owning the RX-8.
o_town_racer 10-01-2003, 04:10 PM Happily engaged to be married here....no hooking up necessary :-)
(but I still get the looks....and someone asking me about the car at just about ever fill-up)
mikeb 10-01-2003, 04:14 PM my girl wouldn't be to happy with me entering the hooking up poll
LightEmUp 10-01-2003, 05:04 PM I'm getting married too!! In november! Cool thing is, we hooked up when I had my civic, so I guess it was me not the car she liked :D

Also called pulling a Linda Blair if you get the reference. Esp dangerous for those on motorcycles who really seem attracted by the '8.
On a related note, ever notice how people will get on your rear left or right side one lane over to better check you out? Pretty dangerous, if you have a blind spot they pace you right there. After a minute or two of occupying that annoying spot, they'll pull up alongside for a different view. I get this every day ... and love it!

Girls keep screaming out their car windows at my husband about the car, even if I'm in it with him. The dummy always tells them that its his wife's. I keep telling him NOT to say that, and at least he can flirt a little, but he's being a weenie about it. Which is strange, because he's usually just about the biggest attention hog when it comes to girls I've ever seen.

I like your civic
my last car was a civic but it got stolen
come 8 me 10-01-2003, 08:38 PM everywhere I go people would look.
so far allmost two weeks I have the car:
-countless lookers
-1 accident on the opposite side of a 6 lane street
-thumbs up from even kids
-"nice beautiful car" by 350z owner at gas station.
-biker on harley said very nice car at traffic jam
-I stopped to as direction, real estate agent loves the car, I show her around in and out.
-scary one, a sabb tailgate for 10 mins as close 1/4"from the back.
Senseny 10-01-2003, 09:08 PM Kids love this car, they are all pointing and talking and giving thumbs up and stuff. Plenty of adults comment and gesture as well--but I trust kids. I have a black R-1 7 with silver stripes and fully modded exhaust (also IC, Apex computer, etc) which gets lots of attention as well. My favorite moment was when I showed some neighborhood kids under the hood of the 7 and they asked me for an autograph. I of course told them they were being silly and played it off. But that is when I knew that the car was far past me in terms of coolness. My wife just laughed at me. As far as attention, I know my wife gets far more attention in the 7 and the 8 from guys than I get from girls.
come 8 me 10-01-2003, 09:36 PM talk about kids, I rememberwhen I was driving my white 88 vert, stop at a red light a kid climb out of a window and said "nice rx7" he pause for couple sec "nice car" as the light change, his last commend before we depart "very nice car" with a serious, somewhat matuer and intuit look.
think about that, even a little kid knows about the 7.
the 8 is way above that, I think.

Hey 6speed8, you got any pics of that beauty? From the looks of your avatar, I think your car is very similar to what I have on order. I would love to see it!!:D
