I apologize for the redundancy, but damn, I just had to say that I just love the look of the instruments/sound system at night. "Houston, this is 8, we're ready for landing" "Go ahead 8, the bay doors are opening".

It's like art. Space art. At first it was all a bit distracting, but now that I'm used to it, it just seems so cool. Showed it off a bit at a wedding over the weekend, and a friend called it a space shuttle cockpit on steriods. I liked that.

i really like having the ability to turn them back to white also. this morning is was really grey and foggy here so i put my lights on. of course the dash lights came on red and even though it was grey out it was still too bright to see the guages well so i flipped them to white. much easier to read that way.

I go back and forth. The red looks cool at night, especially the way it matches the audio, but sometimes I just turn the dash "on" because it looks so cool, even though it's bright.

I like the lights too, but I sort of would prefer the blue (ignition off) lights while the car is running, too!

Yeah, I love it when you shut the car down at night and it still has that subtle blue glow on the gauges. awesome touch. This should go in our "Little things" thread.

I love this car. So there I was sitting in my car waiting on my wife when I reached down to play w/ the dimmer. What in the world!!!!!!!!!! Red lights. I had those on my Mazda6 but just assumed that the 8 was bright white guages all the time. Needless to say, I toggled back and forth the rest of the night...I love new toys.

Hehe me too. I found the night gauges to be only good to use when its totally dark though.

I usually keep it on the White, just easier to read. Love the capability though.

I agree, the white is much cooler but when it's DARK, the red is nice.

It would be nice if you could dim the white lights like you can the blue one. I'd prob use the white combo more at night if you could.

The dual capability is nice. What I'd like in addition to having manual selection is to feed in a sensor that senses ambient light and flips to red or white appropriately. I sense a DIY.... :)

They are on when the red lights are on. I love telling people to watch when I turn on my headlights and it goes to the red/blue setup

The lights are red becuase it is less of a strain for your eyes to keep adjusting, since most of the lights you're looking at at night are red (brake lights)

I also like those blue leds in the cluster, when I hit about 7000 rpm i see a blue streak flash off of the needle. Love it.

I liked my VW's gauges better.

The blue VW gauges are/were pretty cool. That was always a big comment I got from everyone when they rode in my Jetta. I hope the next generation carries it over. I also got comments on the flush air registers. It was a pretty neat little car.

If only we could get rid of the extra-bright green and blue lights for the brights and fog lights. I just don't understand the need to have them so bright and not controlled by the interior dimmer knob. Just mho.

^^ there are probably standards and regulations for those; make sure people know they have their highbeams on so they don't accidentally blind oncoming drivers, etc.

Fine for the blue hi-beam light, but we could do without the bright green light telling us our headlights are on :).
