View Full Version : Mazdaspeed or Racing Beat Exhaust? calaloco 06-11-2007, 10:01 AM I'm going to buy an exhaust for my rx8, and after my own research I have this to options, please help me decide before buying. Thanks. DarkBrew 06-11-2007, 10:04 AM Less noise = Racing Beat More noise = MazdaSpeed Search for sound clips. Bad_Bob 06-11-2007, 11:33 AM I myself like the sound of the Mazdaspeed one. A friend of mine (solo7) has the mazdaspeed exhaust and it sure sounds sweet. I will get one soon... calaloco 06-11-2007, 12:28 PM But HP gain? Quality? SE3PSynergy 06-11-2007, 12:29 PM both are quality and both will barely give you 2-3 whp if that. nycgps 06-11-2007, 01:41 PM is your car so think what you want. and Search is your friend. N rider89 06-11-2007, 09:22 PM there is an amazing thread comparing the two if you search for it. rg200amp 06-11-2007, 10:17 PM racing beat is welded by hand, so the welds are not as clean, and it weights a bit more, mazdaspeed is welded by machine, the welds are flawless and neat, it weights a bit less. the mazdaspeed is louder, and ofcoarse ask any honda guy they will concur, more sound=more power :) 9G Redline 06-11-2007, 11:36 PM I have the MS Dual Sport exhaust and I get so many props on it. People say it sounds mean and clean, but isn't over-bearing. At highway speed there's no droning. I'm pretty sure RBs doesn't drone either. Paired with the MS CAI it sounds pretty sweet. Good luck with your purchase, I'm sure you'll be satisfied either way. swoope 06-12-2007, 01:01 AM it depends on if you are running a stock cat.. the ms does drone with anything but a stock cat.. and i think it might with a stock cat.. it is about tollerance... anyway.. rb more quiet, more weight. ms more noise, less weight. rb my guess is a 3" back pipe... ms 2.5" back pipe.. but what do i know.. beers  alerx-8's 06-12-2007, 10:00 AM get the ms S1lveRx8 06-12-2007, 10:16 AM Had my MS Exhaust for a week now, and I LOVE IT!! Not rice at all, and I love the deep tone it gives off. +1 for MS Exhaust:) MazdaJeff 06-12-2007, 01:25 PM Had my MS Exhaust for a week now, and I LOVE IT!! Not rice at all, and I love the deep tone it gives off. +1 for MS Exhaust:) Do you find it drones from 55 to 90 MPH? Right now that is my biggest exhaust fear, as I'm on the higway a lot. Jedi54 06-12-2007, 02:01 PM I've heard both of them, and I prefer the looks and sound of the RB. Easy_E1 06-12-2007, 02:06 PM Mazdaspeed is lighter and a little bit louder. I love my Mazdaspeed, it has a great tone to it. As far as "Drone" I really don't notice any. And I drive on the freeway alot. Mazdaspeed FTW! Trekk 06-12-2007, 04:28 PM MS dual-can will make more noise then a RB but it is not "loud". You people that think the MS is "loud" must have some weak ears. (I'm sure most that call it loud only do so, cause they heard from a guy who heard from a guy that it was loud) Most people dont even know I have an exhaust on my car untill I punch it, even then its smooth and deep, most love the sound. IMO RB is a waste of money. It's not light and it sounds stock... whats the point? (besides wasting money) Do you want to hear the motor winding or the exhaust rumble? rx8va 06-12-2007, 04:32 PM I Think Mazdaspeed Cat-backs Sounds Pretty Good For The Money Thats What I Have And It Sounds Better Then The 350z dmp 06-12-2007, 04:39 PM As the RB is nearly 'inaudible' inside the car, ANY other Exh. could seem 'loud' when compared to it. :) imput1234 06-12-2007, 04:51 PM But HP gain? Quality? you wont get much gain with any exhaust system. i think most gain is from TurboXS tho. scsi 06-12-2007, 05:49 PM racingbeat is like 10lbs heavier than stock. for this reason, i would choose mazdaspeed Razz1 06-17-2007, 02:07 AM it depends on if you are running a stock cat.. the ms does drone with anything but a stock cat.. and i think it might with a stock cat.. it is about tollerance... anyway.. rb more quiet, more weight. ms more noise, less weight. rb my guess is a 3" back pipe... ms 2.5" back pipe.. but what do i know.. beers  I know you like beer. I would get which ever one is on sale. SkyLee 06-17-2007, 02:39 AM MS Exhaust better then Borla??? or HKS??? im asking about hp gain. faboo 06-17-2007, 03:35 AM hp gain is negligable...for any of them... calaloco 06-18-2007, 01:50 PM Got the mazdaspeed, the cheapest US$ 529.95 S&H included, Rosenthal Mazda. waiting to install it... Easy_E1 06-18-2007, 09:59 PM Good choice. You'll love it. Try some overpass' and tunnels. Dinhx8 06-20-2007, 11:37 AM i just got my MS dual catback installed yesterday . Rosenthal is having a sale and it won't last much longer. At any rate, here are my thoughts. i read thru many of the threads on this MS exhaust before buying, and figured I'd help any potential buyers interested I'm really happy with the purchase. It sounds high end, not just another exhaust. It's louder than OEM but not obnoxiously loud. In first gear when you push it its pretty loud, when you hit 2nd and third and rev it, its at its best in my opinion. nice low, deep sound, that to me sounds best in high rpms in 2nd and 3rd gear. Around town, in first, and just cruisin, its pretty much OEM. which to me is cool cause I don't want it to be too loud. I have no drone (on stock cat) at the aformentioned rpms. As for the whole "its loud"...it is, but not ricey loud or obnoxiously. Im 32 so Ihave no interest in drawing too much attention. If anything first gear would be the loudest gear I think where it sounds the most like "just another exhaust". That being said, it has no tinny rice can hints. By the time you're in 2nd and third, it really does as many have said, sound very exotic. Hope this helps! I do have some bronzing after a day of cruisin, nothing some never dull won't fix. mdw1000 06-20-2007, 12:58 PM Congrats! I love mine! calaloco 06-22-2007, 10:56 AM Got my ms dual installed yesterday, and it is perfect... I agree all with Dinhx8, so it is no need of more words, Thanks to all!!! MazdaJeff 06-22-2007, 04:11 PM Thanks for posting your reviews. I think I will go with the Mazdaspeed exhaust as well. whenson417 06-22-2007, 05:29 PM Im 32 so Ihave no interest in drawing too much attention. I'm sure those bad ass looking rims don't draw much attention either. RoXanneBlack8 06-24-2007, 11:19 PM would the ms exhaust bolt up to the turboxs race pipe? is there a diameter or bolt pattern difference? S1lveRx8 06-26-2007, 10:58 AM Congrats on the MS purchase/install. :) Good choice, enjoy it! laythor 10-26-2007, 11:38 PM Just had my MS exhaust installed today and it's just awesome. Like everyone has said "loud, but not too loud". I wasnt even in the market for a new exhaust but got such a steal from the dealership that I had to order it, best semi-impulse buy ever. I say semi-impulse because changing the exhaust was something I knew I was going to do, just didn't expect to do it now. snipaz2420 10-27-2007, 06:50 PM has anyone paired the mazdaspeed exhaust with the rp supercat? if so what are you thoughts. i'm kind of getting tired of my sp2 mysql101 10-27-2007, 07:30 PM don't get either. one of them has had issues with welds coming apart after a while at the Y split. The other weighs too much. Instead of these two, research the other available exhausts - get one that flows well, preferably lightweight and 3" ID. Then of the exhausts that meet this criteria, then narrow them down based on which one sounds best. Unless all you care about is just sound, in which case get whatever. mysql101 10-27-2007, 07:34 PM hp gain is negligable...for any of them... neglible only if you plan on staying NA - cause the OEM exhaust flows well enough that the aftermarket ones don't improve much (you might even lose power). If you go FI, the engine will be flowing much more exhaust, and then the OEM might not be sufficient. Low Fly'n 8 10-29-2007, 07:19 PM I have the RB and it is quiet when you want it to be but does have all the sound you're looking for at higher RPMs. It has a nice little rumble at idle and changes the whole personality of the car IMO. Forget about big HP improvements with a catback on this car. You have to decide is it worth it for looks and sound alone? The answer is YES for me. SkyLee 10-29-2007, 11:25 PM i have the RB too i love it and looks way better than ms! and the sound flipRx8 10-30-2007, 10:36 PM j.w....wat is the meaning of "drone" ? snipaz2420 10-30-2007, 10:54 PM when you are cruising and you can hear the exhaust it drones. if you cant hear it it doesnt drone Rumblebee 12-27-2007, 08:37 AM WOW all this talk now im so damn confused with what exhaust to go with my mind was so set on the RB exhaust and RB Revi intake but now im just now sure paulmasoner 12-27-2007, 08:50 AM WOW all this talk now im so damn confused with what exhaust to go with my mind was so set on the RB exhaust and RB Revi intake but now im just now sure thats because every one of these dozens of threads a month are totally useless. their is ZERO appreciable difference between any exhausts ever discussed. and hundreds of requests for sound clips of the same stuff over and over is pointless. the recording is never acceptable. only once on this forum has i seen clips recorded that encompassed the full range of sound. most ppl just dont have the equipment to do it. what it all boils down to... listen to it in person and then choose. if thats not possible, theres are ALREADY dozens of threads on any one particular exhaust or intake hear. i dont understand why some ppl(many who should know better) insist on starting new threads on this everyday Razz1 12-27-2007, 01:46 PM  !
