View Full Version : Custom LED Footwell Lights!!!
peterlemonjello 08-17-2007, 07:57 AM Finally got time to install mine last night. Wow!!! they look great. Install instructions were simple and complete. The only hard part of the install was trying to act like a contortionist to complete the wiring.
Rotary Rasp 08-17-2007, 02:37 PM Still have any lights avaliable? In blue?
yup
laythor 08-17-2007, 03:22 PM I still love how nice these look when I get into the car at night. An added bonus is that it helps my chick rummage through her purse when we're getting in or out of the car.
RX8 Ball 08-18-2007, 06:27 PM Hi I want a set for sure - do you have red in stock? Thanks!
Rotary Rasp 08-18-2007, 06:58 PM yes I do!
1stgenchevy 08-18-2007, 08:52 PM Quick question.
I've read throughout the thread that the LED's come on when you open the doors just like the rest of the lights inside the car. But my question is can you get the floor lights to stay on while your driving? Or did I just read something wrong?

you can have the lights come on when the door is opened or when the parking (dash) lights are on.
Dev_Ace 08-20-2007, 04:24 AM hey,
i want to pick up a set of reds if you have em in stock.

Rotary Rasp 08-20-2007, 10:24 AM Shipping to outside the US is another 5 bucks.
white311 08-24-2007, 06:41 PM Gotta do it..... I want a set of the reds!

Red set is on its way to you shortly.
RPM666 08-24-2007, 08:58 PM Yeah that's pretty cool, I'll take it in red please.
PM'd
Mazurfer 08-24-2007, 10:28 PM Well, you know I've already got some others installed, but when you think my blues will be on the way? I look forward to seeing what the difference looks like.
Damn.............now due to that other thread, I have to eventually consider the LED clear corners you got as well! :lol2:

Mspeedpro 08-25-2007, 11:36 PM What I would like is this...
If I turn on the headlights with the setting on the white/red display... the footwells will not light up. But when I switch the dash lights over to the "nightime mode" (red/blue glow dash) ... I would like the blue footwell lights to light up at this time.
So is this included in the instructions? So the footwells will light up only on one setting of the headlights being on and not the other??
Sorry if this sounds retarted, I hope I explained my question well enough.
Either way I'd like a set of blue, do I just send $50 paypal asap??

What you are asking for is doable and not hard once you find the correct wire. But finding that wire could take a long time.
The instructuions I include show you how to hook the lights up to the parking lights, or the door lights. In your case, it would be best just to hook the to the parking lights. That means wheneve your dash lights are one, so would the footwell lights.
Mspeedpro 08-26-2007, 02:44 PM Paypal sent, I look forward to the product. I cant decide which wiring scheme I would like to do?! Are they pretty easily reversable so I can see which setup i like better?
bobafpe 08-27-2007, 12:32 PM I'm ready to buy a blue LED footwell set. Are there any left?

Yes, you can switch them around. If you're careful, you can even reuse the wire splices. Otherwise, you'll have to pick up a few at your local auto parts store.

I ruined the first pair included, and just picked up a pack at RadioShack for a few bucks. As much as it looks like you might be able to pinch these things down with your fingers, pliers are indeed your friend.

Yea, don't try doing it with your fingers. lol
You need the pliers to actually pierce the insulation on the wires. At least they're cheap to replace.
white311 08-27-2007, 07:32 PM I just got done installing the LED's and they are titties! Just as a heads up tho be prepared to bend in ways you never have!! Also, instead of taping the wire splices I would recommend that they are zip tied ( tape tends to loosen and stick to neighbooring wires). Everything took about 1hr cuz my damn arms couldnt move worth sh%t in the small space under the steering wheel.
dimigon 08-27-2007, 07:33 PM Just ordered mine last night, cant wait for them, although since I am up North in Canada, probably looking at a couple of weeks :(.
Rotary Rasp 08-27-2007, 07:55 PM Yea, I supply wire ties with them.
Expect to wait 3 weeks or so for your package to make it to Canada.
mr me 08-28-2007, 02:53 PM The other Canadian guy here. Are my Blue LED's on there way as well?
Rotary Rasp 08-28-2007, 03:42 PM I plan on shipping all the blue orders in a day or two. One of the tubes of blue leds I got was a slightly different hue of blue. So I had to order some replacements. I expect them today or tomorrow. Sorry for the minor delay.
I do have red all ready to ship if anyone else is interested.
Jedi54 08-28-2007, 03:45 PM These things have been a HUGE success! Congrats Rasp.
Jedi54 08-28-2007, 03:45 PM HOLY shit, I just thought of something!!!
I need lighting in my trunk for my stereo system. You feeling up to it??
we'll chat about it later if you want. (don't want to thread hijack)

hahah, funny you mention that.
I've sold a few led trunk kits already. They look great and are completely plug n' play.
ramirezja 08-28-2007, 04:21 PM got my lights the other day and got them in, thanks for the lights. easy to install, the hard part was finding the wires... i didn't relize how bad it was under there... lol. they look really good, thanks again!
LiTTleRX-8 08-28-2007, 09:09 PM Got mine shipped to Vancouver, BC, in less than 2 weeks!!
Everything was a breeze except the splicing part. I was trying to run my LEDs to the Running Lights, it is very cramped there, and there are many other wires bunched tightly against one another. Finding the wires was easy, however getting enough space to crimp/slide on a connector is a different story.
The red/yellow wire was the culprit, took me many times before i finally slid a tap-in on, and when I finally did, I broke it with my needle nose pliers, the metal contact would keep falling out...
Finally bought a new one today and tapped it in easily, working in the day time is much easier!!
Anyways they look great!!!! If I had another 8, I'd buy another set =p
Rotary Rasp 09-07-2007, 03:58 PM All packages shipped out yesterday. Sorry for the delay, school started and I've been extremely busy.
ModestoRX8 09-09-2007, 03:42 PM I know that others have already said this, but this guy is great! I installed my LEDS with a few issues (I didn't read the directions correctly) DOH! Once I retaught myself how to follow directions, they went in easily and they continue to look great. I love to get in my car at night now, and I smile every time.
Put these in!!!
Mazurfer 09-10-2007, 09:21 PM All packages shipped out yesterday. Sorry for the delay, school started and I've been extremely busy.

Hey, any chance we could wire up some fans for my amp as well?
Wind Dance 09-12-2007, 04:39 AM Any chance you wanna make a kit for me?? Except for using regular 194s instead of leds, i put leds in my map, dome, and door and didn't quite fit my needs.

I think he wants normal bulbs (non-led's)
That would defeat the purpose Wind Dance. These LED's are very high quality; not like the crap people buy off autolumination, etc.
C Los24 09-12-2007, 10:15 PM ok so i really freakin' need these...NOW! NOW! :banghead:

Correcto.. the regular incandlescent bulb
Hm.. i have the leds in and i plan on changing them back to 194s in a few days. because they don't seem to light up the red/black leather as nicely/brightly haha if that makes sense.
Would you happen to have pictures of a Led interior shot that came out nicely? Maybe I'm using the wrong bulbs.:icon5:
I'm currently using these..

Mine should show up at my house today. If I get instructions in mine, I'll scan and send them to you tonight....if Rodger doesn't get to it before then. I don't need the instructions. I'll check back later today and see if you had any luck yet.

Most people that are installing this still have the stock interior lights. The blue or red leds blend nicely with even non-led interior lights. I'll take more pictures tonight.
vincentb_bower 09-13-2007, 02:03 PM can someone make the parking lights LEDs only? (like the G35s...)
Batman&TheBatmobile 09-13-2007, 03:09 PM can someone make the parking lights LEDs only? (like the G35s...)
there was a guy from PA selling a pair like that. dunno if he still has em. shit looked sweet.
Mazurfer 09-13-2007, 03:54 PM The parking lights are nothing more than 194's, so just get some. Do a search, there is even a nice DIY to show you how to get to them, but you better have small hands! Also, buy a good quality LED. A lot of folks go with VLED's, but there are others out there. Here's a link to a page with all of mine...............however RR's footwells are going to be put in where my present ones are, so I can see what the difference is.

vincentb_bower 09-13-2007, 07:08 PM oops.. i forgot to mention that i was talking about the tail lights..

like on the first picture.. this is where i get the g35 from..
Rotary Rasp 09-13-2007, 07:33 PM yea, that those are copies of the leds tails I made a while back...
They actually more closely resemble the Acura RL tail lights.
Contact evil 8 if you want him to make you a pair. I gave him all my schematics since I'm not doing tail lights anymore.
mr me 09-13-2007, 08:06 PM thanks Mazurfer, Rotary Rasp hooked me up with instructions very quickly upon my request - great to deal with - 3 cheers for Rotary Rasp - great to deal with. Now I just gotta get some time to get these bad boys hooked up!
Hey Rotary Rasp any word on the trunk leds I see mention of? These might just finish off my new trunk just right

yes, i contacted him but he wont do the parking lights(of the tail lights) only.. he would only like make the parking lights + braking lights.. if u know what i mean.. :(
this is why im refering it to the G35

Hmm... any color besides red or blue?? I want white, but the white leds tend to have a blueish color in them.... actually i think red might be nice since my interior is red.. hmm...
Well if you could make one using the regular filament bulbs, then i'm in to purchase one. ;)

I can get whats called warm white leds. 3500K Color Temperature. I'd have to order them and white leds are expensive. $15 more if you're interested. The color is a perfect match to halogen lights..... if thats what you want:rolleyes:
rotor_man 09-14-2007, 08:10 AM just wondering about using red led's in a footwell light set. Do they fade better than the door lights as i changed these to red candescent to keep the effect. Or are you better just to make one out of 194's
Also just wondering what people recomend for the map lights? are refractor leds better?

I put LED's in the doors and the footwells. I first modified the OEM footwells to accept 194's and those were good, then I went to VLED circuit boards and have those in there now. I since then have ordered RR's footwells as I just simply want to try those and see the difference in all three of these options.
My map lights are indeed 5 refractor and that's because I had read up first and it seems as the have a more expanded light field range due to the way they are made. I lilke mine(they are blue) and not that bright, but I like the effect. I want a more subtle blue and not something over powering. Above you can see exactly what I used for my maps or any other.
AcidAngel7477 09-14-2007, 11:44 AM are these still for sale..?! i would LOVE some for my 7FC, :yumyum:
i want them in red, since thats the color of my interior..i can meet you somewere since i live in the la county (whittier). or i can get them shipped eather way.
:AA:
I have 2 pairs of footwell lights for sale. I made them for my car but decided to re-do them with two rows of leds (one for running, one for interior lights).
The lights are tired to the interior lights, when the door is opened, the LEDs come on.
They are very easy to install and can be done within 15 minutes. I have pictures of exactly where to tap the wires.
The OEM footwell lights are $120 bucks and they aren't even LED.
$50 Shipped

So you want just the parking lights circle and when the brake it applied for them to go brighter. If thats what you want i would be able to do it. I think i was just alittle confused on what exactly you wanted.

Chamberlin 09-17-2007, 05:05 AM Hey I had a neat idea tonight rasp.....
Howa bout a wire lead coming off the driver's side LED bank, that has one LED (white/blue/or red) attached that could be used to illuminate the coin box?
I always pull into the drive through late at night and never can see a damn thing in there and have to dump out all the change to get 2 pennies. It is one spot Mazda forgot to illuminate.
I don't think it would be hard to take out the coin box, drill an appropriate sized hole and maybe hot glue or cyanoacrylate the LED to the top of the coin box?
Whaddya think?

UnstoppableDrew 09-24-2007, 09:07 PM Mine arrived today. Any tips for installing them ?
usmc320 09-25-2007, 01:27 PM I would like a blue and a red set. Sent you a PM.
UnstoppableDrew 09-25-2007, 03:03 PM Man, I just went back and read a bunch of pages of the thread. Now I can't decide whether to install them as running lights or dome lights.
Wing5 09-25-2007, 03:11 PM Get both! ^.^
Jedi54 09-25-2007, 03:14 PM +1 for both
Us RX-8 owners don't "half ass" ANYTHING. You wouldn't want to let us down, would you???
Rotary Rasp 09-25-2007, 03:17 PM hahaha.....
yes, you could always do both with the purchase of two sets. lol
Leesha 09-25-2007, 03:53 PM I have both! Blue and soon to be red...

Razz1 09-25-2007, 04:52 PM That's awfully bright.
I just might have to check it out.
Olorin2 09-25-2007, 05:17 PM I just ordered a set in blue, and I can't wait to get them!
Jedi, what color and type of bulbs do you have in your doors?
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d37/Jedi54/P9225328.jpg[/QUOTE]
Jedi54 09-25-2007, 05:23 PM it's a secret, I can't tell you. IF I did, I'd have to kill you.
Actually, I"m embarassed to say that they're a pair of AUTOLUMINATION bulbs. I bought a bunch last year, later realized how horrible the quality is so I just stuck them in my doors. They work GREAT there though, surprised they haven't burned out yet. ***knocks on wood***
They're 194 hi-flux bulbs.

I take it you saw the super top secret Jedi message???
Rotary Rasp 09-25-2007, 05:46 PM really easy if you have the blue background... which I don't.. but still
Razz1 09-25-2007, 05:49 PM Yes, now the dark side has the advantage.
Jedi54 09-25-2007, 05:51 PM the Dark Side has ALWAYS had the advantage.

Hahaa, great thanks. :D: I made the same mistake with those when I used them for my parking lights. Do they fade like the stock bulbs? I thought I read somewhere that some LEDs will not fade like the incandescent bulbs?
Rotary Rasp 09-25-2007, 05:59 PM Do I hear correctly? razz wants a set of footwell lights!?!?!
Razz1 09-25-2007, 05:59 PM You are correct.
UnstoppableDrew 09-25-2007, 06:29 PM The hard wire kit I got for my radar detector had a splice you plugged a spade terminal into, with a matching spade on the power wire. I think I'll go find some of those, and tap both sets of wires, then switch between dome & running to see if I prefer one or the other or both.

LOL, glad you saw the message. Hmmm....I thought most people used the white. Oh well, still fun for those who can't see the msg.
They do still fade, just a bit quicker then incandescent bulbs.
I guess the autolumination bulbs just don't react well to heat or the elements. They work great in the doors though. (I've got vled bulbs in the garage in case I just jinxed myself)

too bad it's not that easy... lol
The dome lights are on a negatively switched circuit. The running lights are on a positively switched circuit.
You'll have to move both the positive and negative wires to switch between the two.

Thanks again, Jedi. Yeah, I did a double-take with that message. ;) I think I actually have some spare autolumination LEDs laying around that might be okay for the doors too. Just waiting for Rodger's footwell lights now!

Olorin2 09-26-2007, 05:30 PM They were shipped on the 21st.
Well then, I should check my mailbox! I didn't think they were shipped yet, and since I don't check my mail every single day, I didn't worry about it. I'll be checking tonight though!

Rotary Rasp 09-30-2007, 01:38 PM hey Rasp, do you still have any blue led's left? I am interested
yes i do....
UnstoppableDrew 09-30-2007, 02:21 PM Just finished installing mine. I think I need a trip to the chiropractor now. The hardest part for me was getting the red wires spliced with the red/blue one. I could get one or the other in the connector, but not both at the same time.
I also mounted the drivers side one a little differently. If you mount it on the brake switch, the board overlaps the steering shaft. I was concerned about rubbing, especially when the wheel is in the raised position like my wife puts it when she drives the car. My solution was to mount it on the bracket the steering shaft goes through. There's a weld there, so I used double sided foam tape to build up the area on either side, then stuck the mounting clip to that.
Once it gets dark out I'll shoot the finished effect.
Leesha 09-30-2007, 03:33 PM Still waiting???
UnstoppableDrew 09-30-2007, 09:01 PM Darkness falls:

maskedferret 09-30-2007, 11:02 PM I strongly recommend anyone getting these or already have them installed get matching door courtesy lights to replace the white light ones. I got a pair of red #194s from AutoZone for $3.00.
Jedi54 09-30-2007, 11:27 PM I left the super whites in my door to compliment my puddle lights (when doors are open) and it rocks.
x-attack 09-30-2007, 11:45 PM I was wondering If you still had any of the blue ones in stock and how much are they?? ASAP
Spinning Sushi 09-30-2007, 11:51 PM On my old car (G35 Coupe), there were lights underneath the doors when you open them, sorta like puddle lights.
I was wondering if you can make them? I prefer super white... I'm planning on tapping the wires into the cables that goes to the lights on the side of the doors. Also, do your LED dim like the interior lights?
Rotary Rasp 10-01-2007, 12:05 AM I was wondering If you still had any of the blue ones in stock and how much are they?? ASAP

I was just minding my own business going through an intersection and he was pulling out and i thought he was going to pull the the right lane since i was in the left. I was maybe 3 feet from him when he just slowly started heading for my lane causing me to slow down from 50 to 20 and almost smacking into his stupid ARSE... AARRrrgggGGHhhh

Yours should ship out this weekend or monday.
Yes, I'll send you instructions for both.
Mazurfer 10-06-2007, 06:26 AM RR,
One set came in on about Wednesday and was apparently the 2nd set as the handwritten note was included. Stripped the ends and used a 9v battery just to make sure they would light before probably installing somewhere this weekend. All is good...............thanks! Will let you know about differences seen between what I already have an yours, if you're interested.
Dave
Imsdal 10-06-2007, 11:52 AM Hmm neat :) Would it be possible to ship a pair to Norway?

Did hood dampers this morning and I'm still undecided where I'm going to put yours. I'm thinking under each front seat towards the back(for the rear footwells) and tying into the others up front.........so all will be courtesy driven.
Mazurfer 10-06-2007, 02:13 PM It did, I even have them installed. I'll take pictures tonight.
:lol2: Another place I am considering putting the ones you just sent! I've actually though about under the hood as well. I gotta make up my mind!

I'll be the first to say that these pictures exaggerate the brightness a little.
Imsdal 10-07-2007, 07:04 AM So are you selling a set for the trunk as well rasp?
If so, I'm interested in a blue set for the trunk + a set of blue footwell lights.
Mazurfer 10-07-2007, 02:34 PM Well Rodger........and the answer is.............
Just got through putting mine under the rear underside of the front seats as I already had some in the footwells(as you know). Had no issue what-so-ever, just the normal pain of running the wires. Because I attached them under the seats.............I had to run the wires from under the rear of the passenger seat up underneath the carpet into the center console(yes, I took it loose yet again!) and then across and back down the other side(again underneath the carpet) to the drivers side(where the 2nd set was attached). Then run them over underneath the carpet to the side sill and up towards the fuse box.....where I have the footwells connected........and.......all on these are on their own fuse! :)
Of course, I had all the extra wire I needed, so that wasn't an issue
I chose not to daisy chain them, they are in parallel and not serial(so to speak).
Everything was soldered and heat shrunk and no visible wires! FTW
Oh.............and I did use the plastic stick on mounts underneath the seats but I didn't glue them, I tie wrapped two mounts on each board(I had more) and used those as standoffs from the metal seat bottom, then used two other tie wraps around the boards to secure them using holes in the seat pans. The plastic mounts are just used to stand them off, so no possibility of shorts even though you wrapped them very nicely.
I'll take some pics fairly soon, but now I have to stop all the blood letting I have going on with four fingers! :banghead:
If anybody tries this approach...let me tell you that Mazda(or any other car manufacturer) doesn't give a damn how sharp metal is or how clean edges are when it's out of site and out of reach for most people. The tie points for my install was up under the seats, and you will find circular holes in the pans that are the bottom of the seats. You can use these to tie off on, but if you reach your fingers in those holes(which you will have to do), you will come out bloody.......I can guarantee it! OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
Recent edit:
I actually have now moved these from the underside of the seats and placed them on the floor under the seats angled towards the rear footwells. I already was careful about how I had run the wires, so didn't have to do anything there. All wiring is under the carpet. They sit right infront and slightly below the rear vents where they are held by wire ties. I came in about 1/2 inch from the carpet cutouts for the rear vents and punched two small holes in the carpet on each side(just slightly bigger than the width of the boards) and tie wrapped them. I'll try to take some pics soon and Rodger..............I would say that yours are slightly dimmer than what I have upfront(that's not a bad thing by any means) and just a hint more of a purplish hue than what I have up front.
Wind Dance 10-08-2007, 12:41 AM Wind Dace, your white leds came today.

Wind Dance 10-14-2007, 02:53 AM Just finished installing them. It was a breeze, I'd say the only hard part was getting the wire through from the passenger to the driver side and making all the wires look oem and clean.. LOL jk jk
:bigok: Great product Rasp..
Quick shot after install... 3500k Warm water white leds
Final judgement... looks clean with an oem color and feel to it.

ivory8 10-14-2007, 04:22 PM Installed my lights. Just wanted to mention I put the lights on the Drivers side diagonally because it was too close to my steering & this is what went wrong the first time.
yeah i ended up having only 1 led on the side where the steering column was, instead of having 2 on each side of the zip tie. still looks perfect tho
magikone69 10-14-2007, 10:23 PM got them saturday...will instal with pics tomorow
magikone69 10-16-2007, 12:01 AM ok they are now in but im havin poblems....they don seem to be as bright as others have posted in the pics....and i dont think they are wired correctly.
i wired them to turn on with the headlights..... my understanding is that they run as long as the headlights are on....but once the key is in and the car is running they turn off. i wanted them to continuously run with the headlights on, i figured this is the way everyone else had them on. i followed the directions but i think i might have messed up, any advice on how to correct this, and why are they dim?

"The brightness is exaggerated a little." - Rotary Rasp has already stated this previously, but its only a little. They light up real nice on my car.

Yes, you have it wired wrong.
Double check which wires you connected. Lastly, if you take some pictures and PM them to me I might be able to help you.
magikone69 10-16-2007, 09:59 PM i will try my best to get pics up..i can give a discription for now as to how it is wired....
the positive wires are spliced onto the red/yellow wire i found on a harness which was more towards the top of the dash....the negative wire was spliced onto a blue black wire which was not on the same harness set as the red/yellow was on....it was on a seperate set of wires which was more towards te back by the clutch pedal....
on the red/yellow harness there was not blue/black wire together so i spliced it to the wire which was on the 2nd harness...at the time i thought it wouldnt make a differance. but now i see it must have...
ivory8 10-16-2007, 11:37 PM Why did you have 2 on each side?
because the instructions had 2 leds on each side of the zip tie, once i tied it up i just didnt feel comfortable leaving them about half and inch from the steering column

Batman&TheBatmobile 10-21-2007, 02:09 AM rodger, do you think the install for an 08 mazda 3 would be much different? my girlfriend is jealous of my LEDs:us4allswi . i'd probably stick them on with double sided tape or something cuz theres not really a spot for a wire tie but all i'm wondering about is the splices

I installed a set on a Mazda 6. It was not the same as the 8 install. Therefore, I can't recommend you do it unless you have some knowledge of how to trace out wires.
I did take pictures of the Mazda 6 install, so if anyone wants a set for their 6, no problem.
Mazurfer 10-21-2007, 02:36 PM Some pics Rodger! Camera sucks, but oh well. Don't have good pics of how the rear lights up yet from a wide angle view.
On the pic labeled with text.........there is a tie wrap on the other side as well, just didn't know it was obscured until after I took the pic.
Oh yeah, and that strange looking thing on my center console above the A/C controls is apparently some sort of reflection of my garage roof through the windshield.
Jedi54 10-22-2007, 03:59 PM bumpety bump!
Funny story: I was routing some new electrical wires through the cab on Saturday and when I went to zip tie them down, I was BLINDED!!!! If your'e going to be working near the pedals, I suggest waiting for the lights to go off. :D:
ivory8 10-22-2007, 09:32 PM ^-------:spank:
Jedi54 10-22-2007, 11:23 PM yeah, my buddy laughed at me when I randomly started swearing at my car.
Imsdal 10-23-2007, 11:11 AM 12 days or so since I ordered from Rodger, and the shipment just arrived to me in Norway :) Seems like a great job, can't wait to get footwell + trunk leds installed.
I'll post some pics when they're up and shining.
Thanks again!
..oh yeah, and bump!
ArlockRX8 10-24-2007, 03:52 AM I have a question!!
In the DIY section there is a topic about installing custom switches into your car...
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=53281
Could these foot lights be connected to a on and off switch like in this thread? If so I think I'm sold on a pair of reds....
Also I think if this is possible you may like to include in the directions on how to hook these lights up to the switch.... I would rather be able to turn them on and off than only when lights are on or doors are open what do you think?
PM me sir :)
Hercules 10-24-2007, 11:27 AM If there are any more, please let me know... I'd love a set of red ones.
Imsdal 10-24-2007, 04:33 PM After one hour worth of working, I got the blue LEDs installed, both at the footwells and trunk.

Rotary Rasp 11-02-2007, 11:57 AM PMed!
refugeefrompistons 11-02-2007, 10:00 PM as from the above pictures, the blue LEDs are a great match with the dashboard light.
Jungleagent 11-05-2007, 09:28 AM I'm curious to know if the blue lights go on when you open the door and if the red light goes on when the car is running operations?
Olorin2 11-05-2007, 11:09 AM I'm curious to know if the blue lights go on when you open the door and if the red light goes on when the car is running operations?
Both colors can either be wired with the courtesy lights (dome light, door lights), or with the running lights. RR will send you instructions for both if and when you buy his kit.
I like the blue especially because they match the blue LEDs in the cluster when you open the doors. If I were to have them on all the time, I might choose the red to match the dash lights.

ugh, how about red?:uhh:
bruce_van 11-28-2007, 12:01 PM Rasp, maybe you can mix a couple red LEDs with white LEDs. That will give you more of a pink light.
Beeotch 11-29-2007, 06:32 PM the footwell lights came in today, installation gave me a neck cramp but they look freakin awsome, really compliments my red led doorside lights and red led rear seat headlight. combined with black and red leather it looks like the interior from hell!

8newbie 12-12-2007, 07:39 PM How easy is the installation for someone who has no electrical knowledge at all?
refugeefrompistons 12-12-2007, 08:13 PM easy as hell, the only thing i had trouble was getting the splicers to work. Decided to strip the wire then splice, easy job.
Myardor 12-12-2007, 08:22 PM Why mix red with white when u can get real PINK?
tajabaho1 12-12-2007, 08:37 PM Rodg, how bout those corner LED lights yo!
987HYS 12-12-2007, 09:30 PM PM sent
Rotary Rasp 12-14-2007, 01:32 PM Why mix red with white when u can get real PINK?
because those are 15ma, 20 degree leds..... they aren't very bright unless you look directly into them.
The leds I offer are 100ma, with a 100 degree viewing angle. This looks more like a flood light rather than a spot light.
Hikaru_Torii 12-15-2007, 04:38 PM Can you make these for an RSX-S? I think they'd be a nice present for Christmas for my bro
Rotary Rasp 12-15-2007, 04:44 PM Well, they would mount fine but I dont have an rxs to trace out the wires.
So, you'd be on your own there.
