for some reason Ive been playing a lot of Forza 2 (great game) and at least i have the THOUGHT that it might make me a better driver? ONLY in terms of recognizing racing lines, and knowing the proper gas/brake techniques....

of course I havent tried to "apply" what I have learned in real life, but its just one of those really dumb thoughts that's rather amusing.

It actually can help your racing performance - in fact, most well-known racing drivers practice using video games - they use them to help them focus on the line, sharpen reflexes and learn/understand tracks where they go out to race. The last item is key.

For example, I've done a number of days at Road America over the years (unfortunately NOT with my RX-8 due to warranty concerns), and on Forza I, the Road America track is entirely faithful to the original. Ditto with Laguna Seca/Mazda Raceway in California. It's like driving the real deal although you can't get the killer bratwurst they have at R/A after your run.

haha. Yes but does it help you learn the maze you eat the ghosts in?

OP: Def helps learn the track in part (no feel). I'm just waiting for a day when these video games have useful steering. Then they'll get really fun.

Well... Galaga has taught me that I should let myself get captured, so I could later save myself and then I would have 2 of me at the same time.
