So what were the individual prices on the accessories? I wanna know because I'm wondering if it's worth it to cancel my front/rear crest and go with these guys... PM me if you want to.

Today's my birthday so yesterday I went to my friendly Mazda dealership and purchased my baby a few toys.

160,000 km extended warranty
air outlet garnishes
air valve caps
alarm shock sensor
cargo net
floor mats - all weather
floor mats - replacements
foot lamps
front air dam
inner door protector
mud guards - front
power window switches
rear spoiler
rear under deflectors
rotary crest - front
rotary crest - rear
scuff plates - aluminum
side deflectors

Hopefully everything will be in and gets installed on Saturday October 11th... :D

PS. They mentioned that they are expecting a Red GT with a moonroof in November - any takers?

Happy Birthday! You should have told me that yesterday when we were at Ron Jeremy's.

Let me know when it's all installed. I'm still toying with the front air dam and power window switches. It would be great to see it on your car.

Congrats Awyeoman. I just picked up my 8 from Mountain Mazda on Saturday. Of course it was pouring rain when I picked it up. Mountain Mazda have been great through the whole thing. I ordered my car back at the beginning of March. My car came in at the beginning of September but my spoiler was backordered until the 22nd.

Peter Pickering is the General Manager at Mountain Mazda and I highly recommend him. As Awyeoman mentioned, Peter is offering 15% off all RX-8 accessories. I negotiated that with him for anyone who mentions this forum. Mountain Mazda's phone number is 1-800-663-8571.

Give Peter a call if you're looking for some accessories for your 8. I bought a bunch and ended up saving quite a bit of money with the 15% discount. I saved enough to buy my Boomerang2 alarm. (Pete - contact me regarding setting that up).

Wow Zoom Zoom, that's quite the accessories list. Happy Birthday!. Which dealer did you got to? Did they offer you any discount? For your info, from what I've been told, the alarm shock sensor upgrade is not currently available from Mazda. They are having trouble with their supplier. Speculation is that it's just too sensitive. I had ordered it as well but the dealer had to end up taking it off my order. Did anyone else ever get it?

I got my shock sensor a week or two after I got the car, around the beginning of August. I've got mine turned down pretty far (the hurricane last night didn't set it off). My only problem with it is that certain things, like shutting the door or shutting the center console, can cause it to make the door lights flash.

I know Broose has asked but I was also wondering which dealer you used. I have already ordered a few accessories (red handbrake, scuff plates and winter mats) but am thinking about some more.

Let us know.

I got my car and ordered my accessories from Achilles Mazda in Acton Ontario, which is just outside the GTA. I'm getting 15% off on all parts and labour.

If anyone is interested in a Red GT with moonroof give them a call, they are expecting it in November and it still does not have an owner as of last Saturday. Call Cecil Young at 905-453-8965 if you are interested - he's a nice guy to talk to.

Any Canadians order accessories from the U.S. and did you get charged duty on delivery?

Mills Mazda in Truro, NS offered up Dealer Cost + 15% to anybody on the forum.

Oh, and if anybody is curious, I have a copy of the accessory list sent by Mazda to the dealers with all the part numbers, dealer cost, MSRP and Suggested Install Time.

Well, I don't really have an easy way to post it. Hmmm... I'm keeping the car, so it's not like Mazda can do anything to me now.

I guess if people are interested in some popular options I can manually type them out, but I'm not aware of an easy way for me to post a pdf.

Broose: I'll be PM'ing you about your dealings with Peter, as I've talked to him a few times and debating on going w/him to buy my 8 now.

Redshift: may I suggest you keep this price list off the public board. PM everyone with it as I think Mazda wouldn't appreciate it being out in the open.

BTW: send me a copy. :)

Hi Guys! Here is one of my previous postings regarding pricing.

Hello everyone! I have been talking to a couple of dealers about getting accessories at a discounted price. I am posting the results of my findings below. These parts will be ordered from Mazda Canada through the dealer and at the time of ordering your charge card number will be used to pay for the items. There will be no returns of product to the dealer as he will inspect everything very closely for no damage before they are shipped to your address. You must add shipping and taxes to the prices below.

1. Mills Mazda, Truro, Nova Scotia Phone# 902-897-3400
Contact is Brad Mills and the price is cost plus 10%.

Sample Pricing:

Air Dam, Front Titanium Grey List $713.25 Sell $573.64
Moonroof Wind Deflector List $76.65 Sell $61.64
Rotary Crest Front List $111.29 Sell $84.07
Rotary Crest Rear List $129.75 Sell $100.63
*PLUS* shipping & taxes

2. Edwards Mazda, Pembroke, Ontario Phone# 1-800-265-1753
Contact is Jack in parts and the price is cost plus 10%.

Sample Pricing:

Exhaust Finishers List $385.69 Sell $310.16
Front Air Dam List $713.25 Sell $573.64
Front Mask w/dam List $179.99 Sell $144.15
Rear Spoiler List $550.99 Sell $443.10
Front Rotary Crest List $111.99 Sell $84.06

Scuff Plates for sills List $369.95 Sell $300.27
Air Outlet Garnishs List $389.99 Sell $320.64

Wow, I had a busy end of week and a lot going on this weekend, so I haven't been on in a few days. It appears my off-hand comment has made me a very popular guy. :)

Unless this message forum system is different then all the rest I've seen, I don't think there is a way to attach a file to a PM.

Some of you have PMd me your email address, and I'll forward you the pdf directly.

After that, if Evol would like to send me an address, I'll take him up on his offer and let him convert it and post it up.

Sound fair?
But, if any of you have an urgent need to know a price (i.e. are going to order a part tomorrow) just PM me, and I'l let you know the price on that part.

What is the meaning of SIT in the last column's header?

Redshift
10-06-2003, 07:53 PM
SIT: Suggested Install Time.

So, 1 = 1 hour
1.5 = 1 hour 30 minutes etc.

SIT = Standard Install Time

and yes 1 = 1 hour so .4 = 24 minutes or ( .4 x hourly rate)

and DNP if I'm not mistaken is Dealer Net Price

Redshift

Ooops yeah, I meant Standard Install Time, not Suggested. D'oh!

Same difference....lol

Thanks for the list, you just saved me lots of money on my 8 negotiating.

It's great to have information like this, and thanks again for sharing.

Easy way to save time and trouble in calculating. You don;t need lists. They used a fixed margin.

The list prices are 30% margin over the dealer costs.
So, if an item sells for $100 it costs them $70
In other words their cost is 70% of the suggested list price.

They pay freight on that from Ontario.
So if you are in Newfoundland or on Vancouver Island you probably can't get as good a price as from a dealer in Markham..

Also, the alarm upgrade shock sensor is on hold. There is a dealer bulletin out, at least in the USA on this item.

Interesting!

Are you sure the frieght isn't delivered to Vancouver first, with the vehicles, or do the parts come seperately directly to Toronto, which would make me think, it probably still arrives in Vancouver first.

Mazda Canada stocks their parts in Ontario ( I believe Scarborough, off the top of my head) and ship from there to the dealers.
The stuff does enter the country through Vancouver, or from the USA through whatever port they use for parts, probably west coast.
But their warehousing is in Ontario.

Ya this makes alot of sense. Mazda ships the products from the west coast to Toronto, then ships it out again from there, oh and while they're at it, they increase the price to cover the shipping and handling.

Doing business with Japn should be done in Vancouver, not Toronto.

For those MAZDA executives out there watching this forum, and I know you do, WAKE UP

Tell me abut it.. Unfortunately that is the way most stuff is distributed in Canada.

We build computer equipment in our business, and we too are totally frustrated with that whole "Toronto is the centre of the universe" bullshit.
