Anybody tried to remove the airbag warning stickers from the sun visors yet?

They don't seem to be regular stickers; it's like their molded into the visor.

Any suggestions?

yeah... they looked like they were ironed on... maybe a sunvisor CD holder to cover it up? too tacky for some?

I did as you suggested, and the only thing I saw was the one post about using acetone which left a yellow tint behind.

I was hoping either for concurrence that this is the best way to go, or another suggestion.

Just a thought - why not cover the yellow with a piece of grey sticky vinyl or take the visors off, mask them, and spray paint grey over them (this would be better due to the heat I think)?

The other weekend I decided to remove mine. They came off, however, it took some work and they are not perfect.
I started with the approach of acetone and googone. I had minor success with this. After two hours of working on it I had removed the center section of the sticker.

I figured it was time to move onto something stronger. I next tried paint thinner which worked a little bit better. By then I was impatient so I moved on to a spray called "Brakeclean" or something similar. This stuff is very potent and strong. It is not sold anymore, even industrialy I believe. It contains mostly Xylene and Tuoeline (sp?) with other chemicals thrown in. My father had gotten a bunch years before.

Anyway... I sprayed this on and after letting it sit for about 10 seconds or so I could just scrape it off with a putty knife. After that it was just a matter of cleaning it off.

The only problem arose when I left the passenger side to dry for a moment. I set the visor down on a wet spot and the breakclean melted a bit of the plastic. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't have the acid etch marks anymore in that area. It is on the part that covers the mirror anyway so it is hidden most of the time.

Also I believe my stickers were heat pressed on. There are markings around where the sticker was that suggest it was melted into the visor sort of.

Anyway... I am happy with the results. The minor imperfections that are left are much better than the glaring yellow stickers.
For anyone else who has these type of stickers I suggest a combination of mineral spirts and patience.

Summary: Repeated applications of Acetone then Goo Gone gets them off.

Be aware there may be legal consequences to removing them. In the event of an injury, you could be held responsible for hiding the manuf. warning. Something to consider in a country where "sue" is a verb.
