Has anyone else noticed that nearly all Nissan Maximas are driven by a$$ho1es? I have been passed on the right through an intersection (from a turn only lane BTW) or otherwise cut off 3 times in the past week, and always by a different Maxima.

Now, I am not a whiner. I really don't care how people around me drive as long as they miss me and I don't have to slam on my brakes to avoid a collision. I am just making an observation.

Is it the way Nissan markets the car that attracts these people? Is there something about the car that transforms courteous and careful drivers into reckless idiots? Has anyone else noticed this, or am I all alone here?

You can barely find Maxima drivers anymore. The car has just about faded away into oblivion (sadly).

I've never noticed it with Maximas. Other than people in big SUVs and trucks the one I've noticed a lot lately is Scion TC drivers. I get them revving on me, swerving in traffic trying to race me, and just in general being jackasses. Sebrings and Avengers seem to be another big one IME.

Faded Away I See Plenty, But I Am Deffinitly Looking Foward To The Redesign (sporty And Less Like Other Models)

I don't think sales of the current design are spectacular. The new Altima is better than the current one. Perhaps, they'll improve it with the freshening.

I don't know about that, I still see them everywhere. Most of them aren't the current body style, but still plenty of previous generations floating around. Hell, I see more 2nd gen. Maximas than I do Evos, STIs, and RX-8s combined.

I agree with the Scions.. The other day i had one fly up my rear bumper.. We had some fun on an open highway.. It was a quick little car actually.. How fast are these things?

You just proved RX8Maine's point :rollingla
But I gotta give another mention of the Tc owners. They are popping up like crazy recently in my area. Most of them are driven by cute 20 something hotties but the ones driven by the teenagers tend to be jerks and that is coming from a aggressive driver here lol.

My niece drives a Maxima and a 650 sport bike. Pretty sure she's an exception.

My beater is a 96 Maxima. 180K miles and still going strong. It's a great, reliable, and comfortable car IMO.

The 1989-1994 Nissan Maxima SE "4DSC" is a classic.

Has your exhaust system rusted out yet? If so did you find an inexpensive aftermarket replacement that you are able to pass emissions with?

i had a maxima, 95, some bolt ons....1st car. i loved it to death and was a great learning car. learned what rice is, and not to go that route with the rx8. i had it almost 6 years till the tranny died then decided not to dump any more dough into it. they are very under rated. alot mistake it for just another common import pos family car, but with a few mods and a good driver it could make alot of people think twice. of all the "family cars" btwn 95-99 the maxima was def the cream of the crop, only 4door car in that same class i feared was the v6 SHO.

maxima.org and introduce yourself to the assholes lol, i admit there are quite a few on there.........i wasnt one of them tho. ;-)

I had a '95 5 speed GXE, my sister still has it and I may end up getting it back as a beater. It was a great sleeped with hubcaps and all, it weighed les than 3000 lbs. and had a great engine, infortunately handling wasn't its strong point and I hated FWD so I didn't have it very long.

Yeah it rusted out a couple of years ago. I just went to Midas and had the catback replaced with one of their exhausts, cost me ~300 for the parts and labor.

 Hey.... i use to own a 2k3 Maxima with bolt ons , pretty fast sedan , but i was never a A-hole driver. Great car for what it was.

Lately i noticed the Tc crowd too...on my daily highway commute i always get challenged by them, stock or modified and the same result always happens to them. They see my tailights becoming one with the horizon....:lol2:

It use to be the civics , integras, SE-R sentras and a few RSX that would always try me, but they simmered way down.

It never fails to see one Tc driver a day weaving through traffic like a wild man , passing people on the shoulder, etc.

I never had a WrX , Sti, Evo, S2000, Z ever really challenge me. Granted a few of the cars mention we have driven fast together , for some reason its a mutual respect thing, we know what our cars are capable and are not capable of doing.

Speaking of A-hole drivers, whats up with the G35 guys.... i have been revved by them at every light, seems like since i owned my 8.

Here in MD, i get revs from everyone starting from old beat up cars to minivans!, get a lot of challenges from mustangs and worst of all trucks, wich i end up leaving them starring at my rear lights :) . Minivans drivers are the worst, they think they own the road for some reason and that you have to move over just for them. I eventually move for them cause i figure out that they may be streesed out parents driving a bunch of kids to a soccer game. Another funny thing is that here everyone wants to get in front of you even in slow traffic, just to get that one spot ahead of you at the red light. bunch of idiots IMO.

i agree with you, i just got station here in MD. i was in Wa state before and i can notice the big difference on how rude people are here in MD, it is sad, sometime very predictable too, you can tell when some asshole is about to cut you off or just do something plain stupid. I've never been in a accident until i got here, my 8 got rear ended by an old lady that could bearly see!, well with that said i had to upgrade for a 07 stormy blue :) since my 05 BB was just outta luck (im very supersticious)

Every goddamn tC I run into tries to act Paul Walker. Toyota has done a great job into fooling people to think the car is an awesome car that can hang with cars like ours, Z's, s2ks, g35s, etc. etc. I was on a backroad on the way home from fishing the other day and a kid in a tC randomly decided to be tough with his girlfriend in the car and tried passing me in the middle of a bend on a fucking backroad BLASTING some sort of techno/eurobeat. Thank you initial D, and thank you scion. -_- Needless to say, I made him regret doing that without passing on the double solid. When we made it onto the highway from there, I toyed with him a bit in 3rd gear, when he realized he wasn't going to win there either, he gave me a thumbs up and then let off and got behind me haha

Another car around here that has been popping up a LOT and going fast and furious is the newer Mitsu. Oz Rally editions or w/e. The last 4 I've seen were with kids under 20 revving like crazy at me only to have me laugh right at them without even wasting my gas.

It never stops haha

Let's not stereotype people by their car here, there are a**holes driving just about anything...dare I say even in our car? I think we learn that from our "disaster" thread. I've had anything from Ford Fiesta to Mini Van trying to race me and refuse to stay behind me on the hwy.

IMO, it's way too easy to get a driver lisence here in US, and nobody really enforce traffic rules.

getting revved at or challenged might have to do with your own driving style too...

Ive only gotten challenged once since i got my g35 coupe in 05, and it was incidentally by a maxima at a light, I just politely declined. i never feel like im in a hurry where i need to cut in and out of lanes constantly and i always let people in if they signal. Ive never gotten revved at or challenged by the dozens of civics or scions with huge fart cans I see every week...

if you find your self getting challenged constantly, then maybe you have an aggressive driving style that attracts that kind of attention...?

thats very true, also the way your car is modded may give the impression that u are a steet racer. my friend has a clean s2000 with a nice drop and some 5ziggen rims and gets challanged all the time, yet he has no performance mods and is the last person you would see in a street race....its just the vibe is car gives off.

As far as driving agressive on local streets, here in Fl thats a no-no. To busy, to many people on the streets , and its not worth going to jail to see who could make it to the next light and then burning up your brakes to stop. :icon_no2:

But that is the thing, everybody knows my cars is clean to the gills. No kit, no stickers or wild paint jobs, just a clean silver RX-8 with 19" rims on her and some clear corners and tint. Correction i have 1 sticker on my RX-8.... its my IMSA sticker.... maybe they see that and think i am a race car driver for the GT class.:)

Hmmm should branch off this thread and create a Bastard Scion Drivers thread. lol
Ran into a xB (yes the box car one) today at a gas station. I pulled out and went about my business of hauling ass to the Gf's house. As I was leaving the xB driver was getting into his box. So I was driving along in the left lane of this two lane route and I look in my rear view mirror (yanno that thing on the windshield half the people who drive dont use lol) and I see this lil silver thing zooming in and out of the two lanes. It was the xB, for some reason as soon as he caught up to me he slowed down and made the mistake of staying in the right lane and got forced behind me. At first I thought to myself "No way is he trying to show off to me." but it seemed he was cause as soon as he had the chance he zoomed off ahead of me and cut off a few people in the process (thank god that car is small). Reason I believe he was, was because anytime he got to far ahead he'd slow down and wait for me if you will, then zoom on ahead. I just shook my head and took my time. At one point I figured this lil car must of been going 90mph on this route to catch up to me from the gas station.

'eh somewhat odd story I know but I had to share I just didnt get it, he's driving a box car for crying out loud. Oh and at one point the xB and a tC were lined up at a stop light I started to chuckle to myself thinking "If they try to race I'm calling the cops." lol.. thankfully the tC didnt join the xB and if anything went to damn slow which was annoying since I was behind him.

I got revved on by a 69 Chevelle that must have had about 600hp. that thing was as loud as a Nascar. I just looked at him like what do you want me to do? He smiled and left a cloud of smoke.

I don't know, I've never had any Integra/RSX/Prelude drivers try anything funny with me. I think a lot of ricer idiots think the RX-8 is faster than it really is. There is a misconception out there (thanks mostly to Fast n Furious) that rotary Mazda all have crazy quad-turbo setup and lay down 450hp in a cloud of smoke.

Maxima drivers, well there's an interesting bunch. They're basically the Jap equivalent of Mustang drivers.

Haa haa...same thing happened to me with an old skool camaro...

Thing has a blower sticking outta the hood and straight pipes out the sides...

Pulls up next to me and proceeds to wake everyone in a 10 mile radius while looking over and doing the head nod thing...

I unleashed the midpiped rotary scream at him in response...light turns green and I make a casual right turn while hes leaving a cloud of smoke...

Twas funny...
