Someone backed into my parked RX8 and now there is a raised dimple in the rear bumper about the size of a US nickel. I could cover it with a sticker of some sorts, but is there a way to improve the appearance of the damaged spot without replacing the entire bumper? Or should I take it to a professional body shop? Really don't want to spend the money. Your suggestions are appreciated. (Maybe I can upload a photo of the dimple tomorrow?)

I'm pretty sure your only options are to have the bumper repaired and repainted—or have it replaced. I went through the same thing last summer: there was a small gash on the back of the bumper, and no one could just "touch it up". I was pissed, 'til I decided I'd forget about it until the next inevitable scratch or gouge happened. And sure enough, someone scraped my bumper in January. That's when I had it replaced—taking care of actually a small gouge, some scratches and one big scratch—all for the price of one replacement bumper. Good luck!

Here's a photo of the dimple (upper left in photo).

Hmm… can't tell where that is, exactly, on the bumper, but—and this probably won't look right unless the dimple is in the right place, but maybe you could lose the "Mazda" badge, and then reposition the 'RX-8' badge to cover the dimple? (Just a thought.)

getting rid of the mazda logo will require painting too :P
