After doing much research on this forum and debating whether or not I should get an RX-8 or a 350z, I finally took the plunge and got the 8!
I got the Velocity Red with GT package (black/red interior), 6-disc changer, and cargo net. Best of all, I got it all for under $30,000! No one should be paying MSRP at this point. There are dealers out there willing to deal--you just have to find them. In fact, I'm not sure if I'm happier because I got the car or because I got the deal.
At that price, I was comparing the RX-8 to an Enthusiast model 350z. Clearly, I got a lot more with the RX-8. With the Z, I would have pretty much gotten cruise control and that's it.
The biggest issue concerning me about the 8 was the MPG issue. I decided, though, that I would take the gamble. I made sure to get an RX-8 built in August, and to get one that wasn't held up at port. I'm hoping that the later builds do better. I'm crossing my fingers on this! With my luck, though, despite all the research I did to find a car like that, I'll probably still end up with the same mid-teens MPG. But I'll worry about that later! Right now, I'm just going to enjoy my new car.
By the way, the velocity red looks amazing at night! Maybe I'll post some pics later.
