Well I bought a bike tonight. Its a 2000 Honda CBR600 with 16k miles. Stock except for the Micron slip-on I'll be adding. After watching some crash videos and reading up on a few forums, I'm hoping it wasn't a bad decision. Seems like people wreck bikes about as often as I fill up my tank ---Constantly!!!! I've wanted one for 5 years now though, so its a well thought out decision. Wish me luck!!

Now I just have to wait 2 weeks for the MSF course to get the license!

Congrats on the F4. I used to have a 2000 F4 (red/silver) myself. I loved that bike! The only reason I traded it in was to get a liter bike (R1) which isn't nearly as "fun!" I could ride the Honda for hours and hours without so much as a crick in my neck. Can't say the same for the Yamaha. Furthermore, the Honda is much, much more forgiving than any other make/model. You made a wise and informed choice!

Have fun and ride responsibly!

Sweet middleweight! I really like those. They run like champs forever, too. Honda makes a nice mount.

For your first bike it's a little extreme, but take your time and excersize some patience and it's really easy and become second nature. Soon it will feel like an extension of your body.

Modulation of the throttle is key, as well. And always ride within your limits. Of course, this is stuff I'm sure you already know.

There's a great write-up on the internets somewhere about riding technique that really helped me when I started out. It dicussed trail braking, knee dragging, shifting, and counter steering. Don't get overwhelmed- it's really all easy once you get used to it and like I said, it just becomes second nature.

I'm really temped to pick up a a Hayabusa myself. A local dealership has a white one on sale. I can't control myself!!

Good luck- you'll be fine. And +5 million on the MSF course- it will save your life someday when a bubble-head chick on a cell phone cuts you off because she didn't "see you" and nearly runs your ass over.

First off, motorcycles have and always be my "first love" of vehicles. That said, keep in mind that this is a "cager" forum...

Nice bike. I got my first bike last year... a '93 F2. Has 29,000 miles on it, 5,000 of which are mine. I also took the MSF course and thought it was fun and educational.
+1 on getting good gear.
I don't know if I can plug another forum on here, but I'm also a member of cbrforum.com. Good bunch of guys who love Hondas and are willing to give tons of info.
Ride safe!

Congrats on the bike. I used to have an F2 back in the day. Make sure you get yourself a nice leather jacket.

The MSF course will save your life. Good way to start off.
