View Full Version : Mom just got a new car...
Aznxkaiser 05-01-2007, 01:26 AM We just got back from the BMW dealership, and our new BMW M5 came in! Its blue with the walnut wood interior. I drove it home, and although I didnt push it (until break in that is), what a blast! We traded in our 7 series ( :crying: ) but it was getting too much mileage. Sadly it will be my moms daily driver..meaning abuse through the 2 hour commute to LA. Besides that, I finally clear corners for my 8 =P
Detrich 05-01-2007, 01:33 AM ive test driven an 07 M5, and yah- it's pretty sweet. heads up display, auto-supporting seats etc. it's a beautiful car. ur mom willl be going to the gas station every other day though... but, if she can afford that car, i'm sure she can afford $100+ a week for gas.
congrats.

2 hour commute to work everyday? Each way???
Aznxkaiser 05-01-2007, 10:14 AM Yeah we live pretty far from LA, and she heads out at 8:40ish and thats when traffic is a bit more settled.
MazdaMonkey 05-01-2007, 12:51 PM I hope she got the Manual Transmission.
Either way that thing is a beast.
Your mom>my mom (drives an LS430/IS300)
playdoh43 05-01-2007, 12:55 PM whao, nice commute car
NgoRX8 05-01-2007, 01:01 PM damn... M5...
CarAndDriver 05-01-2007, 01:04 PM Glad that she has a nice car for that lonnnnnng commute! And I don't want to ever live longer than a 30 minute drive from work.
Aznxkaiser 05-01-2007, 07:55 PM She learned stick on my uncle's Z4 (I think? Maybe 3) and bought the MT. The 2007s are going for cheaper as the 2008's are kicking in so we opted for the M5 over the new M3. BTW- If anyones wondering why a mom would get a M5 over a dad, they got divorced 16 years ago so =P Sucks to be him.
My mom got 124,672 miles per year on the last car, thus after 2 years she decided she wanted a new car. She hid the keys and said I cant really drive it until 1 month passes, but whatever that car feels a bit heavy on the wheel vs the 8!
Commuting in LA traffic as a daily driver is a waste of an M5. Why not just get a 525 if that's what it's for? This is a huge pet peeve of mine.
Detrich 05-01-2007, 08:51 PM like i said- beautiful car, but she'll be visiting the gas station every other day to fill up. even if the money doesn't matter, the pain of having to fill up all the time will be a pain in the ass sooner or later if she's using it as a commuter car.
babohan 05-01-2007, 08:55 PM my mom drives an STI lolz.... congat for the new ride:)
guidosrx8 05-01-2007, 09:06 PM a friend of mine has one of those.... they are sweet...launch control is amazing...
it can pass just about anything on the road....just not a gas station. ;)

I understand what you mean but my mom's business demands upmost respect to the customer, every small detail matters from the car to the very restaurant they go to for lunch. I don't quite clearly understand what she does (Something to do with the fabric industry) but it's competitive in terms of trying to get associates and customers. We did look at the the 525xi but we didn't see anything wrong with getting the M5, gas mileage or not. We also get a ton of gas "giftcards" from shell or something.
Wow mom driving STi? Coolest mom ever...Does she go to the drag a lot? =P
abbid 05-01-2007, 09:31 PM So youre saying your mom put 250k miles on the car in 2 years?!

Yes, she visits fashion shows in las vegas a lot too, and most of the time she drives there. If you look at our old Mercedez, it has over 500,000 miles on it, and still runs pretty good. Its just that the exterior needs a new paint job.
Phantom Menace 05-01-2007, 09:58 PM My mom just picked up a new, 2007, Toyota Camry. I'mma revv on her, when I see her this weekend and see if I can't smoke her ass on the twisties!

How is there time left to meet with clients? Driving 2500 miles a week (by the way, if she gets her oil changed every 7500 miles that means she's getting it done every 3 weeks!) equals 500 miles every weekday...how does one have the time or the energy then to "work"? One hundred twenty five thousand miles per year. Staggering.
I read once that some dude who put 1,000,000 miles on his Accord got a free replacement from Honda after he turned his old one in. She should work out a similar deal. A buck twenty five thousand miles a year. Wow.

She drives more on somedays than the others, especially during business trips. She IS tired most of the time and comes home late so I avoid bringing bad news to her (IE Report Card day). But she says she likes how she lives, without relying too much on a husband and such.

Which motor? What trim? SE V-6 would be the best of course.
