The driver's side window on my 8 makes a gritty sound like sand is inside the door or the fit is off when it gets about 3/4 of the way closed. Opening the window is fine. The passenger window sounds fine. I'm worried that over time this will scratch the window. Anybody else experience this?

I'm sorry to say I havent heard anything like that from my 8 or anywhere on the forum

Haven't hear of it before either. Has it done it from day one on the car?

yes since day one as far as i can remember.

I'd have the dealer fix it

My drivers side window makes a ticking sound when it goes up, passenger side is fine. Dealer cliams they adjusted it, still makes the noise. Must be a south jersey thing!

FWIW, the 8 I test drove last night made the exact same noise, so it's either common (lube drying out?) or something common to early build models.

As a comparison, the one I test drove sounded almost like the sticker was attached to the driver's window rather than the passenger window; once it got about 1/3 up it made a light scratching sound the rest of the way up...

That is exactly what mine sounds like!

Mine makes the ticking noise. Which is probably a gear that clicks everytime it makes a revolution.

i just noticed that when fully down the passenger window is slightly higher than the drivers side. you can barely see the top of the window when its fully down but on the drivers side its below the black window channel. no biggie but just something i noticed.

By the way, since you are local, I saw my first 8 on the road today on 676...A good looking blond, great looking black 8..Made the traffic a little more bearable

I dont think it's the same thing you're talking about, but I've occasionally heard a tick-tick sound coming from the door for a while after I rolled up the window. Turns out sometimes the switch will stick in the 'up' position and the ticking I hear is the relay or overload-protection circuit in the window motor clicking on and off. It's very feint but you can hear it. Now I just make sure when I roll up the window that the switch returned to the normal position after I let go of it.
