View Full Version : car still NOT working
mikeb 04-25-2007, 01:14 PM I have started a few threads and got help from some of you.
I have had the coils replaced, intake put back to stock from aem, replaced spark plugs, flushed transmission fluids, replaced gas cap and my car still idles rough and runs like crap
the car bogs down bad
i dont know if its the engine or transmission or what
but im pretty much over it
im bringing it back to mazda tomorrow
Jedi54 04-25-2007, 01:16 PM mike, which dealership are you taking it to? Have they done a compression test?
Leal25 04-25-2007, 01:55 PM had the same problem and took my car in, i had a burnt leading coil which u say you replaced but i also had a leak and my cat was all fuc*ed
ever since i picked it up its been running badass, i even put in a K&N intake
mikeb 04-25-2007, 05:53 PM i have not had a compression test done
and im using tustin mazda
i will have the cat looked at
im about one day from selling the car
Jedi54 04-25-2007, 05:55 PM mike: Bob took over as the Parts and Service manager at Tustin recently (Jennifer is now at HB Mazda since it was purchased by John Patterson)
He's a reasonable guy, convince him to look at the cat and do a compression test.
mikeb 04-25-2007, 06:22 PM i was uste to gil helping me but i know he is gone now
not sure if he left mazda all together or not
the guy that is suppossed to help me is kory i guess
Jedi54 04-25-2007, 06:32 PM When did Gil leave?? I liked him but he was kind of scatter brained. (for some reason, he's always forget to add things to my service order) :)
I think I dealt with Cory once, but don't really remember. Either way, talk to Bob if you can. He was a forum vendor here for a little while, I think he'd signed up as OCmazdaspeed or something like that. (when he was managing the parts dept)
I was down there yesterday picking up some crush washers when I heard that Bob had been promoted. Hopefully they can figure out what's wrong
RX8CaliGirl 04-25-2007, 06:34 PM Mike that is so incredibly frustrating. I feel for you.
I had a slightly similar problem to yours (I think you're a manual, though, and I'm auto) and my entire engine is being replaced. I know you're not under warranty so that's not exactly an affordable option for you...
Jedi54 04-25-2007, 06:36 PM Mikeb = A/T
mikeb 04-25-2007, 06:58 PM well if its the whole engine i may be over this car
but it was in service last week for cel and they didnt say shit about the engine or cat
they just said it was the coils
we will see probably by tomorrow
eforer 04-26-2007, 03:45 AM You really have to ask them to do the cat as its a pain in their collective asses. I had similar issues, although my car was an mt. I've had the cat, coils, plugs and vent tsb performed. The car is perfect now. Mine had all those go bad in 11k from new.
swoope 04-26-2007, 04:13 AM mikeb.
with your join date i dont know how you dont know what is going on..
you are the king of likely motor failure.. if getting a new motor puts you off the car so be it..
but it will fix the problem you have been dealing with..
beers
mikeb 04-26-2007, 11:56 AM swoope
your right
i have had the car since the beginging of time it seems
it is being looked at right now by the dealer
its out of warranty
i have 67k miles on it
i dont want to spend a few thousand on a engine
how do i know it wont happen again?????
XDEEDUBBX 04-26-2007, 12:14 PM hope you get it resolved mike!
Jedi54 04-26-2007, 12:19 PM good luck man. I didn't realize you were out of warranty....
swoope 04-26-2007, 04:35 PM swoope

i also did not know you were out of warranty.. but it is a recall so you might have some leverage with mazda...
the last flash will keep it from happening again.. or so they say.. :)
beers
Nemesis8 04-26-2007, 04:47 PM I'm willing to bet that if it is the motor, that Mazda will replace it, warranty or no warranty.
Keep your hopes alive
Jedi54 04-26-2007, 05:25 PM I sort of hoping the motor ends up being the culprit. (because it'll be FREE and hopefully fix all your problems)
Any update? haha, don't make me call Tustin Mazda and find out on my own...
mikeb 04-26-2007, 06:32 PM thanks guys
i did get a update
they BELIEVE it is the CAT
and they are trying to get it done under warranty
i guess the compression test showed some problems with the cat or something
zoom44 04-28-2007, 04:02 PM cat warranty is 100k miles
mikeb 04-30-2007, 11:38 AM they are replacing the cat for free
but i guess they have to order one
why cant they have the cat IN STOCK
mikeb 05-01-2007, 02:11 PM got the car back
thanks everyone
i got the cat replaced for free
the car is better but seems to still not be 100 percent
i put the stock intake back on but the car seems to really have trouble at high rpms or up hills
i give up
Jedi54 05-01-2007, 02:33 PM check the little things mike:
-plugs
-coil packs
- clean intake
sorry to hear you're still having issues.
mikeb 05-01-2007, 02:35 PM jedi
i know right
i have new spark plugs
stock intake
new coils and cat
i just dont get it
Jedi54 05-01-2007, 02:49 PM damn...WTF?!
Maybe they reset the ECU and it'll just take a few drive cycles to smoothen out.
mikeb 05-01-2007, 02:57 PM ^^^^ thats what im praying lol
newcastle 05-01-2007, 03:22 PM Did they do a compression test with the new CAT?
mikeb 05-01-2007, 03:25 PM i dont know^^thats my fault
i pretty much walked them thru the problems
first i said coils so they replaced them
then i said cat and i belive teh compression test showed the cat as the issue
the car drives about 80 percent better , it does
but i cant hardely make it up a hill
mikeb 05-03-2007, 10:05 PM ok guys please offer some help
so i have a new cat, new spark plugs and coils
the car is running very hot
i removed the coolant cap and it was smoking
why is my car running so hot
lurch519 05-03-2007, 10:21 PM you removed the resevoir cap from the car while hot? i assume by smoking you mean water vapor coming or steam coming out. it will do that, as when you release the pressure from coolant system, it will lower the boiling point, causing water to conver to steam.
Brettus 05-03-2007, 10:58 PM do you know the results of the compression test ?
mikeb 05-04-2007, 04:32 AM i didnt get the results from the dealer
they just told me i needed a cat and replaced it
but the car still doesnt run right uphills and when i hit the gas hard
