Boosted 7 has been kind enough to allow me to post this up to try and gauge some interest.

I have been a Mazda owner and member at protegeclub.com for several years.
For the past year and a half I've been running a small business of importing performance and cosmetic parts directly from overseas manufacturers.

One of the companies I work with is Simota Racing Sports. Some of you may already be familiar with the name but they currently distribute mainly in Asia and Australia.
I am one of just a handful of North America reps, but we are working to change that.
I have had a lot of success with Simota's intakes for the Proteges and Mazda 3s.

Below is a photo of a sample I've acquired. It's a very nice-looking SRI for the RX-8.

I am selling it dirt cheap---$75 shipped (to the lower 48). But in return I'd like the buyer to promise to post pics and comments. If all goes well my goal is to do a possible Group Buy, or at the very least establish a permanent vendor presence here.

The intake will go to the first interested 'Cash-in-hand' poster.

Oh, and there's no risk. If it doesn't fit for some reason (it will), I will refund in full and bear the cost of return shipping.

Dibbs...I'll even do a dyno before and after if you want...

If it reduces power then I will be expecting a refund as well...BTW

I track the car so obviously thats pretty important to me...

kargo, good luck. I think umnitza uses those intakes and they have caused problems in the past with rx8's.

You may be thinking of the Carbon Fiber SRI. I am aware of those past problems.
It will be something I address in the near future.

I've had a very good working relationship with Simota, and I don't plan on selling re-badged items. Also, Simota is very interested in establishing a presence of their
own in North America, so any design or fitment problems will be fixed before I attempt to sell anything in bulk...or I won't sell it at all. You have my word on that.

I also know of the original problems and will be looking in depth at this intake for any issues. I also am very familiar with the screen issues and will be conducting a close inspection and produce as objective testing as possible. I'll keep everyone posted..

I have an Umnitza CF intake and have no problems whatsoever. It really bugs me that people think these intakes are junk- they aren't. I've had my Umnitza carbon fiber intake on for over 2500 miles without one CEL from the intake or any problems whatsoever. And I don't think I lost any HP either. Plus, it looks freakkin sweet and everyone loves the dry carbon fiber box the filter sits in. It's high qualitly. Don't worry about any problems........

^^Thanks, good to know. Anyone who's had a bad experience with that CF intake, let me know. I'm very interested in everyone's comments, good and bad.

The ORIGINAL was bad. It caused studdering under acceleration and had multiple CELs. This was traced to the fact that they changed the MAF housing pipe diameter to a size greater than stock, so the ECU needed to be recalculed for that, but they didn't (couldn't). So they redesigned it with a new MAF pipe that is the same size as stock. No one I've heard of with the new pipe has had any problems
