Tweety-nator 09-24-2003, 12:44 AM Hi xjerseyzfinestx!
I am a Z owner too, will get my Le Mans 350Z in late November/ Early December.
Like you, I also love the RX-8 too.
Welcome aboard!
AfroCreame 09-24-2003, 12:59 AM This may help as I'am a previous Z and G owner:

Hi,
The Z was out from the start for me, I'm part of a 2+2 family. The Audi TT even became a joke for accom.
I actually decided to buy the RX8 the moment I sat in the back seat.
I'm waiting to see a blown Z , hey - that'd be a cool plate too "BLOWN Z" :D
xjerseyzfinestx 09-24-2003, 12:23 PM hey afrocreame...i totally respect your choice about giving up the g and the z for the 8...to me i would never give up my z... i luv it and think its a great car...but to all those magz. and other people that talk about it in a bad way..saying how terrible the car is ..its all good..i enjoy it alot and now that i have my aem intake .. borla exhaust system.. its even better ...as soon as the tt kit comes out for greddy then its really going to be on:D

Glad you enjoy the Z, no doubt it is a great vehicle but as I enjoy my 8, you enjoy the Z ;) Yea, I wouldn't go by what magazines say...some say yea the Z sucks, some praise it. You could find the same comparo with ANY car. Gorgeous color choice! I like the Z's blue better than my G35 coupes "blue". Nice pic too! TO each his own...they're both damn nice cars that get gawks at every stoplight!

I agree. I don't know why a lot of magazines punished Z. It's totally not fair. My best friend got a Z. It is a really damn cool car. We sometimes switch cars to drive. We both love each other's car.
mikeb 09-24-2003, 05:08 PM If I got the Z I would get that daytona blue.
I had my last car painted daytona blue like the Z
cueball 09-24-2003, 06:11 PM Those skidmarks wouldn't be yours, would they.http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/avatar.php?userid=4709&dateline=1037942754
Nice car and welcome to the forum.
350S2k 09-24-2003, 07:24 PM I have a daytona blue touring Z, I wouldn't trade it for anything short of a 360 Modeno. I did just trade an S2k for a red Rx8 though, I didn't think I would ever enjoy a 4 door, but I love it. I'm not ready to make any judgements on my favorite yet, the rx8 only has 1080 miles so I haven't driven it hard. Both cars are perfect for me, I still prefer driving the Z but the back seat, trunk space, and smooth ride make the 8 much more practical. On the other hand my wife prefers the 8 over the Z. I don't understand how you could nock either vehicle, the only way I could be happier is if I could have kept the S2k also!
At least BOSE(or BLOWSE to Z owners) did a much better job on the 8's stereo!
I couldn't agree more with the sentiments on this thread.
Journalists and the like are really only interested in one thing, making money out of what they write. Unfair?
If every car comparison said... "hey - these cars are different, but you won't know which one suits you best till oyu try it", you wouldn't bother buying the articles - but they'd be more honest.
I'd be really interested if someone went to the effort of classifying a bunch of different types of car owners and then associated all of the suitable cars.
ie, need to carry more that two people and sporty character wouldn't find a Z.
and two or less passengers, high performance, ability to tune to high engine output wouldn't find an 8 at the moment.
Tweety-nator 09-24-2003, 07:46 PM LOL 350S2k ... you should have changed your name to 350RX8! :D
You are lucky to be able to have both cars, congrats!
Mister2 09-24-2003, 09:56 PM I recently bought/leased a 2004 350Z enthusiast. I am still not sure if I am going to lease or finance. I will decide once the car is delivered to the dealership. The reason why I am leaning toward leasing is because I hear Nissan might be releasing a twin turbo version. By then, I will be in my late 20s or 30 (I'm 26 now) and my insurance will drop considerably. I was also strongly considering a RX-8 but I was rather disappointed at Mazda with the whole HP issue which I know has been beaten to death on this board. I am sure all you rotary gurus out there will definitely find out why there is a huge HP loss and get the RX8 back to where it should be (240-250HP which is still great). Damn Mazda.
Besides, the dealer who was a complete moron did not even budge on the MSRP. I got the 350Z enthusiast for 900 above invoice price so that's the # 1 reason why I also went with the 350Z.
What I mostly loved about the RX-8 more importantly than it's exterior (which is gorgeous) is its interior. I think the 8 has the nicest interior of any sports car I've seen. Before seeing the 8 I used to think the MkII MR2 was. The 8 is a truly awesome car. Had I gotten a great deal on the 8, I would be waiting for my 8 to be delivered right now.
I was also looking at a S2k but I felt that it was too impractical. I used to own a 93 MR2 and the interior and storage space of the S2k is even smaller!! I felt quite claustrophobic inside.
Would you recomend that I lease or finance the Z, considering the new Supra will be out soon along with a VW roadster and possible 350ZTT???
Great site everyone!!

xjerseyzfinestx 09-25-2003, 10:27 AM to be honest..with you i personally think there wont be a 350ztt...nissan is not stupid to make another z with a tt because they know what happend with the 300zx....it will be to pricey..and plus most likely a nissan gtr:D should be coming out... i hear its a v6 tt or 8 tt...450 hp...now its up to you about the finance or leasing... if your looking to mod the car... do not lease..im going to mod like crazy soon...damn i wish i had the money for both the 8 and the z... because im really feeling the 8... but im glad with wut i got.. i hate my job but luv my z :)
350S2k 09-25-2003, 01:33 PM I don't think there will be a TT either, but the rumors are still out there, One of Nissan's designers has been quated saying there will definetly be a HP increase for 05' or 06'. Much speculation this increase will be from using NISMO parts. The whole point is to compete with the 05' Supra & possibly new RX7, if Toyota and Mazda really step up, it might force Nissan into a TT version.
I am currently leasing the Z, will most likely trade it in in 05' for the Supra, RX7, or upgraded Z, possibly even the new lotus (Elise I believe) which is starting at around $40g and is great looking & performing. Definetly not a good idea to mod a lease car though as they will deduct for AEM when you turn it back, not sure if you used NISMO parts only, but some dealers won't install NISMO or work on your car it has NISMO part (doesn't make sense, but that's what I've read is happening at Mossy in Houston where I got mine). Point is if you want to mod or keep for more than 2 years probably not good idea to lease, unless lower payments are important.
As for the new RX8, it's paid for & will be around for a while. Bring on the mods!
P.S. I'm working on that name change, 350RX8 is only fitting now.
mazdarx8 09-27-2003, 08:27 AM Has anything been firmed up will there actually be a 05 Supra?
What are the specs, I haven't seen anything and I read many magazines.
By the way, does anyone know if I purchased a RX8 below sticker, does Mazda refund the full sticker or only the actual price I paid plus tax?
Thanks
ggreen29 09-27-2003, 03:47 PM I am a Z owner too, will get my Le Mans 350Z in late November/ Early December What is a LM350Z? (and why...since Nissan's never been on the winner's stand at LM.;) )

While Nissan has never won the #1 spot in Le Mans, Nissan took #3, #5, #6 and #10 spots in the 1998 LeMans Challenge which Porsche won (Porsche won #1 and #2 spot).
The only other Japanese entry to be in the top 10 during that year was Toyota at #9.
mikeb 09-27-2003, 07:25 PM what about mazda

But then there's IMSA GTP, where Mazda's great looking 792P only once beat Nissan, but still went winless. And Nissan had dominated GTP for years.
But still...what's a LM 350Z?

I probably should have specified the full name, the car color is called Le Mans Sunset.
Its kinda hard to describe, some say its an orange color, others say its copper looking.

After looking up the entries for the 1998 Le Mans challenge, I found out that the only Japanese entries were Nissan and Toyota. Mazda declined to enter that year because of financial reasons and a change of company president. Mazda has not competed since 1997.
Mazda though has the enviable position of being the only team from outside Western Europe or the US ever to win, when they won in 1991.
1998 was still a good year for the Japanese auto makers though, with 5 of the top 10 spots coming from Japan.
Honda's last entry at Le Mans was 1996 with the NSX. Toyota's last entry was 1999, leaving Nissan to be the only Japanese company to have an entry in the Le Mans until 2001.
2004 or 2005 might mark the return of the Japanese to the Le Mans.
ggreen29 09-29-2003, 10:38 AM Thanks. I just checked the Nissan web site and found the color your referring to. Congrats.
