mac11 04-23-2007, 10:17 AM I've been trolling the boards for a while now, looking around and getting everything in order to be able to make this purchase. I finally picked one up this weekend.
04 Black 6spd Sport with the appearance package and spoiler. Took delivery with 10,492 miles. As she sits in the parking lot this morning shes at 10,812. Paid 13,500 out the door (tax, title, doc, etc...) + my tiburon. Tossed some cash on top and I'm paying 225/month. Clean carfax and its got just over 2 years left on the warranty - was put in service summer of 05.
Its a hell of a car, I'm deff happy with it.
Red Devil 04-23-2007, 10:24 AM welcome aboard.
Nemesis8 04-23-2007, 10:36 AM Nice find - I wish my payment was that low!
DarkBrew 04-23-2007, 10:46 AM Congrats on the 8. Sounds like you got a good deal!

CTrx8 04-23-2007, 12:45 PM Congrats on the 8. Sounds like you got a good deal!
it depends on how much the tiburon was worth. regardless, welcome aboard.
CarAndDriver 04-23-2007, 12:58 PM Welcome and thanks for the pics. Very low miles for an 04. Make sure all the recalls and TSBs done.
Aero8 04-23-2007, 02:27 PM congrats!
mac11 04-23-2007, 02:40 PM Welcome and thanks for the pics. Very low miles for an 04. Make sure all the recalls and TSBs done.
it hasnt had the latest "emmisions" recall done yet. Drives and runs nicely so far. god ~19.8MPG on my first tank. Pretty happy with that.
I got 6,000 for the tiburon. it was an 03 4cyl 5spd manual with 88,000 miles in good but not great shape. Probably wasn't worth 6,000 especially from a dealer on trade. I don't think I stole the car but I don't think I overpayed by any means either. I am happy with what I got the car for.
Hopefully I'll get it out on the track in the next few weeks. I work about 90 minutes from Gingerman Raceway(www.gingermanraceway.com).
Stavesacre21 04-23-2007, 09:30 PM Congrats! Sure looks nice :)
Easy_E1 04-23-2007, 09:35 PM Look like a ,,,look like a ,,,,, another satisfied RX-8 owner FTW. Congrat's.
As was mentioned before ,,"I wish my payment was that low."

Well Chicago doesn't get the searing heat and temperatures day in and day out that some parts of the country get so you're car is most likely fine. Your mileage may drop or may increase with the emission recall. I think most went down a bit.
What tires are on it? Watch the stock Bridgestone RE040's. They are sticky in the dry and slick in anything else.
Blindrage 04-24-2007, 02:05 AM I am in the same boat as you except with higher payments.
Just walked out of the dealership with an 06 RX-8 GT AT with under 10K miles on it.
We will see if the shine wears off in the next few months.
mac11 04-24-2007, 09:29 AM uh-oh.
devildog1679 04-24-2007, 09:29 AM Ignore my PM, I just found your post. Nice looking 8. May 27 Blackhawk Farms with midwest council :ylsuper:
mac11 04-24-2007, 09:47 AM That May 5 date sounds familiar for some reason. Either way Im sure me and/or mike and/or kristen will be there so i'll make sure you get it then.
So i take it you liked Blackhawk? How were those new pads?

It was a nice track. Not as fast as RA, only one real straight and I could only get it to 102 before I had to brake, the other straight is much like he back straight at RA just much shorter. It had some nice corner though. The new pads were great but it took me a few laps to get use to the difference in brake pressure needed.
mac11 04-24-2007, 11:58 AM Yea that is pretty much what it looked like. More of a technical track like Gingerman that me and Mike do regularly. Its fun not having every asshole with 250whp blowing by you once you get to the straight just to park in front of you on the corners isn't it?
otakurx 04-24-2007, 12:04 PM Welcome to the board and a great addiction

true that. esp when the get mad at you when they wave you by and it takes 10 seconds to pass them because they don't understand that your car is NOT fast in a straight line

Hope you've refueled the flux capacitor with some fresh plutonium...cause we all know that a rotary powered delorian would SURE be thirsty for some type of power :uhh:
Detrich 04-25-2007, 02:27 PM congratz & welcome to the club :)

Me too, I'm actually going to pay to have her deatiled. Just need to find a good deatil shop. One thing I noticed is that the track does a number on the paint in the front. Many little chips, probably a combination of track and road debris
BlueRenesis82 04-26-2007, 11:43 PM i looked at the front of my cavalier, there are all sorts of paint chips from getting stuck behind salt trucks
mac11 04-27-2007, 10:20 AM yea salt trucks are no good.
i started on the car yesterday.
washed it with dawn, hit it with a clay bar, washed again then used Zaino ZP-C Fusion (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Z-PC&Category_Code=Zaino&Product_Count=4) to take out the heavy swirls.
I left the rest for today and tomorrow. Probably will get 5-8 coats of wax of various wax's.
I'm kicking around the idea of 3M clear bra on the nose and leading edge of the hood.
llzjayarzll 04-27-2007, 10:50 AM congrats and welcome!
reaper1 04-27-2007, 10:56 AM What's up and welcome . Where outside of Chicago are you from ?
mac11 04-27-2007, 01:18 PM just over into northwest indiana.
I've got plans to move into the city once i become a little more financially stable. hopefully well before the time im 25.

I was thinking about that when I got my windows tinted but they wanted $550. I thinki I should of done it :wallbash:
mac11 04-27-2007, 02:11 PM what all were they going to do for that $550?
Stavesacre21 04-27-2007, 06:50 PM I was thinking about that when I got my windows tinted but they wanted $550. I thinki I should of done it :wallbash:
After almost all of us end up with those absolutely breathtaking chips in the front bumper, we all seem to think the same. :banghead:
Upfront it's a lot, but to further the longevity of your front bumpers paint, i really think it's a pretty dang good idea!
mac11 04-27-2007, 08:03 PM I dont think i would get the whole nose wrapped. I was thinking like the first 1/2-1" of the hood and 1" above and below the headlights the center of the nose where the flying M is and then the nottom corner of the appearance package lip from side to side. Probably wouldnt be too expensive.
devildog1679 04-27-2007, 11:04 PM what all were they going to do for that $550?
Install it. It would of gone a 1/4 of the way up the hood and half way past the wheel arch.

lol...yea i hopes so.
was it like a full fitted mask on the front bumper or just random pieces?

Full fitted, one solid piece. Looked nice. One of the new guys on the chicago site with a blue 8 has it on his and it looks great. You can't even tell its there.
