View Full Version : This ever happen to you? What would you do?
9291150 04-16-2007, 05:02 PM I’m standing alone at a pair of those electronic government kiosks at the mall waiting for one to open up to get my plate stickers renewed. I’m standing right between the two, and some prick comes up and stands directly behind one of the kiosks. The guy has shades, I’m staring at him but he doesn’t look over. Sure enough, that kiosk opens up and he’s jumps, the exchange that followed went something like this…
Me; “excuse me, I was waiting”
Prick; “which line were you standing in?”
Me; “the ONE line here, it’s a simple concept really”
Prick; “yeah right, f-off”
Me; “listen you dumb F…”
At this point I stepped into him as he was trying to get his card in the kiosk, shoving him slightly with my shoulder. He said if I touched him again he’ll “waste” me, “I’m standing right here” came my reply, followed by more juvenile stuff. He managed to get his card in that’s how it ended.
I wanted to pound the guy, and I guess it was wise not to, but screw “wisdom” - I would have loved the satisfaction, though I feel a bit guilty feeling this way after all the violence that just happened in Virginia.
What would you have done? Was I wrong for thinking there should be one line?
RX-GR8 04-16-2007, 05:07 PM you were next in line for whichever one opened up. he decided to be a prick. oh well life goes on...
Digital_Damage 04-16-2007, 05:10 PM Life has a way of weeding dumb asses out, he will be on the morning news soon enough.
RX-GR8 04-16-2007, 05:13 PM one thing's for sure pounding him as you say could have gotten you into trouble either by him doing what he said he was going to do or getting hit with an assault charge. these days, you can't just do stuff like that anymore.
carbonRX8 04-16-2007, 05:17 PM Backing down shows you have a brain. Courage is not measured by how quickly you throw a punch after an insult, but how quickly you throw down for those not able to throw a punch.
I live in Alberta that's booming from the oil sands up north. And half the labor force that can't seem to land a job, seems to be finding work here. And those are the biggest pricks I have ever come across. They're dumb enough that they can't get jobs where they're from, but we're desperate here we hire them. You see them at the bar and driving around the dumbest shits ever to walk the earth and it pisses me off that there's nothing to be done about it..............
except a little satisfaction. The whole "you can't get into shit if someone "touches" you, and you kick the shit out of them because it was in "self defence" and you're off the hook but you have to wait till they hit you" rule is what usually stops fights and they become stand offs because neither party wants to get into trouble.
I was in a situation at my local bar where I'm a regular and I go there fequently after work. I was chatting with some friends when I decided to play 1 of the 2 slots. Someone came up to me after I just sat down when there clearly wasn't anyone there and said "get the fuck off my slot". Then I said "no" and turned around. They guy spilled my beer on my pants so I stood up and he did the same thing where he said "what are you gonna do about it". I was pissed so I punched him right on his nose and he went down like a sac of shit. He bled, then after calling my punch a cheap shot, he left.
It wasn't a full out brawl, and most fights usually don't last long because people don't have the endurance to keep punching for more than 30 seconds. Most people won't press charges because you can say they're the instigator and he told me he wanted me to punch him. Never got in shit from the cops and he's never been around the bar since. Just keep that in mind because I'm sure you'll make the right decisions.
toxin440 04-16-2007, 07:23 PM sorry to hear about that asshole in line.
In my opinion - the idea of you yourself getting in trouble for doing what was RIGHT is bullshit in this country. People are so wussyfied now-a-days that all they scream is "touch me and I'll sue you for assualt".
Law and lawyers have gotten out of control - instead of looking at the actions of one person, we should look at the actions leading to the CAUSE of the problem. Example: the asshole cuts in line you punch the shit out of him. Problem solved. If the guy happend to call the cops on you, and found out what happend they tell this asshole guy to fuck off and stop wasting everyone's time.
Maybe my thinking is wrong, but its a valid opinon. In my view the instant anyone disregards or disrespects the law or others around them, they deserve what they get. No legal action, no questions, blah blah blah.
There will ALWAYS be assholes in this world - nothing we can really do about it. But catering the legal system such that they do whatever they want scott free is kinda stupid. It would be interesting since this guy did in a way threaten you by saying he would 'waste' you.
Best advice now - forget about this piece of shit, sooner or later he will pull this shit on some big dude that will totally fuck him up.
NoTears316 04-16-2007, 07:37 PM I would have stuck him with an AIDS infected needle. That would have taught him.
saturn 04-16-2007, 07:37 PM This whole "two line" thing happens to me all the time for some reason. I personally don't even understand why anyone would think the concept of one line per whatever is good unless space prohibits anything else.
I think people are creatures of habit. When you go to the bank you have one line. When you go to the grocery store you have separate lines. If someone thinks one way or the other about a given situation/place they usually don't even consider the possibility that it might be the opposite. What can you really do?
Personally, I would have raised my fist straight in the air and screamed "I STAND IN ALL LINES FOR I AM SPARTACUS!!" This sort of thing usually completely confuses the person long enough for me to get what I need.
9291150 04-16-2007, 08:10 PM Great viewpoints, thanks guys. The Spartacus solution I never considered. :hahano:
The wife says I did the right thing...which actually makes me feel like a big wuss. I think I would have wanted to go back to a time where I wouldn't have thought of any repercussions and just reacted. Then again, I just put my kids to bed and suddenly I'm not feeling so peeved anymore, funny how that happens.
playdoh43 04-16-2007, 09:40 PM there are always assholes in society, but most of the time you can just shrug it off once you realize that someone with no manners is probably some low class person in society well beneath you whose not even worth being mad over.
<btw, since you are so much into straight line stats, c&d have actually had a test where the rx8 got 5.8s, .1 faster than the 5.9 you qouted 999999999999999 times on this forum :p:>
tajabaho1 04-16-2007, 10:44 PM I would have stuck him with an AIDS infected needle. That would have taught him.
I agree, better(and easier) just spit in his face, that would make him "assault" you and hey, there's your chance
pretty much if someone is being a jackass to you, you do it back, most of the time they get annoyed and leave, in my case, I'm the jackass, I know, I'm sorry
abbid 04-16-2007, 10:57 PM I woulda kicked him in the nuts and dipped out
mike0615 04-16-2007, 11:39 PM the last time that happened to me, i pulled out my knife and gutted ol boy rigth across the belly. and as he got down on his knees to try to stuff his guts back in his open steaming wound i..... oh wait, wrong thread.
