As some of you already know, I am moving from El Paso, TX to Fayetteville, NC this week. I will be driving the 1800 mile route and possibly through your home town. I'm taking the straight shot from I-10 to I-20 to I-95. If you happen to see a VR with a Mazdaspeed kit zipping through your town, give me a wave. RX8 convoys are welcome if you are interested in giving me company for some of my trip.

I wish I could give you an exact time line for when I will be traveling through each town, but that is pretty unlikely to happen. If you catch me at a gas station or other stops along the way, I will be willing to sign autographs. I'm turning off my internets tomorrow, so I'm putting this up now. I wont actually be hitting the road until Saturday morning, so there is plenty of time for you to adjust your schedules to come out and see me.

If I'm lucky enough to have internet access along my route, I may update this. Otherwise, I wont.

Thanks! My other option is to take the scenic route, which would be taking I-10 all the way to I-95. It would make the trip longer, but I think I would hit better cities along the way. Any thoughts? Time isn't much of an issue, though I don't really want to take more then 4 days.

If you go the Southern Route, you need to stop at Panama City Beach, FL. It is spring break and that place is f-ing crazy, you'll like it, just tell the ladies your a diver, I'll back you up.

Just my opinion - The north route with Shreveport, Jackson, B'ham, ATL, Augusta does not stand up to the possiblities on the south route. Can't imagine the interstates around NO are an issue 18 months later - hell, they held Mardi Gras. You could even go to Bourbon St.
Panama City, Destin, Tallahasee (Florida St), Jacksonville, Savannah, Hilton Head- all slight detours off the interstates. Spring Break, beaches, nice weather projected - no brainer.

I live in the Atl and am trying to get out of town to get to those places. You should also hit less traffic on the Southern route. B'ham and Atl (especially) traffic monsters.

Whew... 36 hours without teh internets, torture! The "packing team" showed up today, so instead of camping out on the floor with a sleeping bag, I decided to hole myself up at the Marriott. Not too bad for an airport hotel... king size bed, TV, and teh internets!

So, I highlighted the "packing team" for a reason. This morning at about 9am, two 60 year old men showed up at my place to pack everything. Now I live(d) in a 2 story town house. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, dining room, living room, full kitchen... not exactly a small place. These guys took forever! To top it all off, they would occasionally stop to show me pictures of their kids, that are all older then me. Tell me about their wives, and how they are illegal aliens... great conversation. The one guy lives in a trailer park and is having troubles with his neighbor but is scared to call the police because his wife is here illegally. Wheee!

Well, I'm holed up at the Marriott until I leave Saturday, so I should have teh internets until then. That way, there will be no nonsense talk about denouncing pie!!! I might just turn this into a "moving diary", so expect more from the NoTears316 Tour 2007!

Damn, $110+ in gas and still didn't get outta Texas! I remember when I moved from Pittsburgh to Phoenix, it took me a solid 2 days of driving to through Texas. That state is HUGE!

Let me recommend a few places in New Brunswick:

Casual Dining: Stuff Your Face - I love their Stromboli's and miss going to the EB location that closed. I still go there about every 6 mos.

Fancy Dining: The Frog & Peach

Comedy: The Stress Factory is supposed to be a great place to see a show. I haven't been there in years, but someone was on Opie & Anthony touting that it is one of the best places to perform.

Nope, I'm in East Brunswick. The day I was making reservations, I sent a text to Dawn and Kimmi asking if that was a good place to stay or if I should stay closer to Philly. Dawn sent a text back saying she was drunk and didn't know what I was talking about... Kimmi sent me a text saying "Awesome, 10 minutes from my house"... so I made the reservations there.

The NoTears316 2007 Tour technically ended last night when I returned home from my 990 mile drive from Chicago. Yes, 990 miles in one day... the drive sucked as much as it sounds.

The journey was well worth it. Thanks to Dawn, Kim, Feras, and Kristen for making the trip well worth it. I had a blast at all of my stops, guys!

How many hours did it take you to do the 990 miles?

I left Chicago at 6 am (central time) and arrived in NC at about 10 pm (eastern time)... so about 15 hours.

Well, the 2008 Tour will start in March with a return trip up north to Jersey and Pittsburgh.

... unfortunately it will be followed by a 12-15 month stay in Iraq...
