My dealer told me this week that apart from cars in for sump changes, they have only had one back with any other problem, this being fouled plugs.

Seems strange to me in a car so young but the service manager suggested this was because the owner was being too mild on the car.

The advice, which - of course, no one here needs -- is don't be afraid to rev the Rx-8!

I know a number of people who reckon the best way to run an engine in is to drive it like you stole it!

Not me. I was very good, and like the manual said - I short shifted at 7

Its true.

I've owned a few rotors and have mates with them also. As they say "a redline a day keeps the machanic away"

Rotors build up carbon when driving and the best way to keep it from building it up is to literaly thrash it out of the engine. This builds up inside the housings and on the plugs when driven too lightly. You wont find an engine that loves to rev as much as a rotary, use it like that...thats what its designed for.
