Acclaim99 04-10-2007, 11:01 PM Had the g/f at Atco today, had her take some movies...
I still haven't learned launching, and I tend to miss getting into gears. Also, I don't adjust the tire pressure, leave the spare, and seats in there, and had 3/4 gas... so yea..
(YouTube takes a little while for em to upload), but here is my best run of the day....
13.9 @ 103mph. Other lane is a Mustang GT, ran a 13.6

I'll do the other laters,
Mikeluvs8 04-10-2007, 11:09 PM nice!!! how much psi were you running?
Acclaim99 04-10-2007, 11:11 PM It usually holdes around 9.5
I think with more practice, the seats/spare out, less gas.. I could reach low 13's... I haven't even bothered adjusting my boost settings.
NoTears316 04-11-2007, 12:19 AM good job
Acclaim99 04-11-2007, 12:21 AM i dont read the other boards too much, but I knew you'd say that... pretty sad.
CarAndDriver 04-11-2007, 12:52 AM Any modifications to your car or is it all stock? Thanks for the vids. Looks like fun.
Mr. Good Job gets pretty tedious--like a broken record. Who even knows if he has an 8?

Very cool - have any showing the e/t on the boards at the finish?
:D
Very nice trap speeds - what're you making? 260 at the wheels? Or so?
Acclaim99 04-11-2007, 12:13 PM No, she didn't get the board at the end.. cut off too early.
I have all the timeslips tho.
Not sure how much HP... i'll get it dyno'd eventually

I'll do the other laters, awsome times man!!!! great to see an 8 running on the track my car will be done soon but i will be N/A congrats again on the times
Wanganrx8 04-11-2007, 04:52 PM I've never taken my car to the track. but is that all a turbo'd 8 can pull? I just assumed that a 8 with 250-270whp could pull mid to low 13's. Cool vids none the less.
Acclaim99 04-12-2007, 10:11 AM it should.. im not an expert at launching or anything like I said.
ill probably be going a few more times over the next few weeks..
BigOLundh 04-12-2007, 10:19 AM Back when Adrian had his boosted 8 he ran a 12.9
Thats with the greddy turbo + interceptor. He also was only dynoing about 270whp at that time (i believe).
So yeah - 12s with a turbo'd 8 and a good driver is very possible
Acclaim99 04-13-2007, 10:18 AM i saw his 13.1 and 13 something video on dragtimes...
he also had no passenger seats
TimzSI 04-13-2007, 11:45 AM All the effort/money spent adding a turbocharger and all its ancilary headaches, and you pulled a best of 13.9? I'm not hating, just wondering why you would even bother running it without complete tuning and more tree practice in some other car.

Why would he practice in another car, when he wants to get better at it in the RX-8? And he already stated he's not an expert at this, so give the guy a break.
legendkurado 04-13-2007, 12:17 PM Nice, get it dynoed and let us know!!
TimzSI 04-13-2007, 12:35 PM Anybody seen this video? Kind of a Tokyo drift omage by french guy...:)

I know he said he's not an expert. I, for one, would think if you're a novice track-goer, there are better cars to learn launch techniques in than a base-tuned aftermarket turbo-equipped rotary. Somethings going to give there. :) Or forget reaction time altogether and just focus on et. Let the light go, raise the revs and go. Timing doesn't start til you cross the line.
