Hi! New RX-8 owner here. I was looking over my car (2007) and noticed something that looks like a cutout or prescored area on the rear fenders, down near where the side aero flares end (I've also seen it on other RX-8s at the dealer and on my friend's 04). It's a rectangle about 3-5 inches long and goes up the side of the fender. I had thought the vent/fender strakes went there, but they're up front. Does anything go there?

the vinyl is there to protect from rocks that get kicked up by the front wheels.

I think that looks like a Sleestack from the land of the lost, great show when I was a kid.

 

exactly, its really handy and it saves your paint from rocks hitting the rear fender

 

its been a life saver on those ooops I ate s&^% off the road incidents sideways its a good thing those guards are there

 

I took them off.
