is ur car OMEGA B as in OMEGA BLUE? opposite of OMEGA RED (X Men character)... that would make a nice plate

I never knew that (about the Omega Red X-Men char). That would be a cool idea if I was really into the X-Men comics. Unfortunately, all I know about them is from the movies and video games (which I gather isn't faithful to the source).

The plate is short for "OMEGA B"ob. I just didn't want my actual name on the plate.

Two funny stories from today:

1 - After my little "photo shoot," I took a trip to CompUSA and parked at my normal spot (away from the store, by an island and under a tree (for shade)). A few spots down was a guy loading up his kids and packages (I think) into his blue G35 coupe and I noticed that he was having some difficulty. His one daughter got into the car and then out again - she just stood there with her arms crossed. When I got out of the car, I notice him staring for a sec :D . He then rushed to stuff everybody/everything into the car and drove out of the parking lot, reving his engine for a bit right before he left.

2 - My next stop was Best Buy. Now, I never believed that people would come up to me to ask about the car... until it happened to me. While stopped at a light, a guy standing there motioned for me to roll down my window and asked, "Is this a Viper?"

Get used to the attention. This car gets more looks and comments than any other that I've owned.

ha cool stories. i took a cruise on 295 in nj yesterday and while i was focusing on the road i could see people out of the corner of my eye looking at my 8 as they passed me(as much as i wanted to go faster i'm trying to obey the "break in" rules). kids especially seem to love this car. people are pointing and just plain rubber necking to get a glimpse. it's a good thing right? by the way awesome pics! :D

I'm not sure the attention is a good thing b/c now I'm paranoid about the car. I had a heck of a time while in the stores today b/c I kept thinking about the car alone in the parking lot.

One thing is for sure, I will be putting on the free wheel locks that Mazda supplied us on ASAP (like other forum members, I found them in my glove box).

EDIT: GR8 - I'm having a hard time as well with the break-in. I keep wanting to push her (well as much as you can push an AT), but I keep telling myself - "I have to be good. I have to be good." btw - I'm just driving in full AT mode until I reach 600 miles, then I'll use the MT mode exclusively.

Omegabob - Great looking color. I reconize the dealership! Is that off Route One in Phila?

I thoughtso - unless they had two blue 8's, I had test drove the same car. A few of their first 8's were really beat up, including a red RX8 with over 500 miles - purely test driven. I'll fetch that photo and post when I can

Nope. Ya didn't test drive my car b/c I had pre-ordered it. I'll post a pic with the initial miles on it as proof - only 4 miles on her. Plus, my sales rep assured me that no one is allowed to test drive "ordered" vehicles.

I, too, test drove the red one you drove. I heard that the first silver one they got was damaged and could not be sold.

Finally, I took pics of all the 8s they had on the lot while I was waiting for the paperwork to get completed. When I get home from work today, I'll post them -think they had 8 total.

OmegaBob, I seen that photo...your right, certainly not yours. They take customers on Route 1 for test drives - prob the worst place for potholes, it was my reason for going elsewhere, purchasing an RX8 in July at Pacifico. You can check out my site - I actually have been hoping in a few months to have a RX8 getogether of some sort. It would be very cool to see 10 plus 8's outside starbucks :-)

I was dumbstuck as well. From my cars positon and from where he was standing, the Mazda logo (in front) was in plain view. After I told him it was an "RX-8", he nodded -knowingly (as if he knew what an RX-8 was - lol)

I went to Faulkner after a bad experience with my first choice, Sussman - I will NEVER go there or recommend taht place to anyone. Faulkner treated me right and was straight up with me from the get go. When the red 8 came in, my sales rep called me and let me know to come up anytime to drive them. When I foudn the time, he let me go out alone (well, not alone, my 16 year old cousin was with me) for the test drive. Also, they hooked me up with free passes to the Rev-It-Up. A great car buying experience!

Pacifico was going to be my next choice....

I bought my last car from Sussman, they are a bunch of crooks if you ask me. Either they are very stupid or just pretending to be - "to make a deal" I checked out a black 8 there, and after 35 mins of waiting, left.

Pacifico were cool - I called these guys up and they had the car I wanted. They put it in storage over night and purchased it next day. Great folks.:)

I parked beside a viper the other day, doesn't look anything like one really. Viper has HUGE hood, smaller lights and shorter cabin area... it's also a hatch.

You'll be people asking all the time, just yesterday I got out of my car and a guy came up and said, "gotta minute"? I was truely in a hurry and had to say no sorry, but he kept man I have an RX7 it's awesome I like the 8. I felt bad, but I was in a hurry.

I would have loved to get black... except that I had a black car before and it was a b*tch to keep clean. Black is sweet!!!!! (my second choice btw)

In the end, it doesn't matter which color you get -the 8 looks good in ALL of them!;)

Great choice getting the 18 inch wheels, and I love the colour. Now that I know what you look like, if I see you around town, I'll stop ya' and say hi. ;)

I'm chompin' at the bit to get mine. As you were, I am now "over due" of the ETA delivery date, and it is really getting to me. Every time my office phone rings, I think that it will be the salesman telling me that the car is here, but it never is. Just clients calling to bug me.

Again, I'm really happy for you, and thanks for posting the pics. The car looks great.

Haze, what dealer are you buying from? Faulkner and Pacifico had quite a few RX8's on their lot when I stoped by last.....nice to see some Philladelphians on the board :-)

Yeah, it is nice to see alot Philadelphians on the board! I'm actually getting mine out in West Chester. I live in Center city, and technically Kennedy is my closest dealer then West Chester is second according to he web-site. My parents also live out that way so I have an inclication to go there, and I did. They're a small and a little sleepy dealer, but they've been pretty nice to me, and the car has tracked along at a pretty good pace. I just want to get it!!!!!! :) know what I mean ;) ? The West Chester dealer has had a few cars on the lot too . . . just not mine. I feel a little like Lady MacBeth "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow moves in at its petty pace." Bleh. Should be here soon though. Right? Oh well, have a good one -

Yellow, Man. Trans., no options. A couple of accessories. It's a very bare bones car, and I'm really looking forward to getting it. I will try to post pics, but I am not a computer guy so I may not be able to figure out how to do it. I'll try though.

Omega Bob-- is the color as light in person as it is in those pics? It's still a great color and what I"m gonna get mine in I was just curious.. I would hope for a little darker.
