Anyone else had any hassles getting the car into first gear at standstill?

I've had a couple of instances where I haven't been able to get into first gear while stopped at a set of lights. Sliding down to second and back to first seems to solve the problem.

No slotting problems at all.

How many kms on clock? - had first service I assumed.

Gearbox making any noise in first? Or at all?

Kev,

First service is done, 1600kms on the odo. I had a fair bit of noise in neutral before the service, similar to what others have reported on the forum. After the first service this has gone, so I expect they've adjusted the clutch in the first service.

No noise in first, or any other gear.

Had the problem once before the service and now today, once again, since the service. First time I thought it was just me, but now it's happened a second time it's bothersome.

Cheers

Had you beed sitting with the foot on the clutch for a while? If so the gears/idler shaft might have slowed down to a standstill, and the dogs/baulk rings just by chance stopped in the worst position.

Try de-clutching in neutral to get things spinning again, then it should slot into first OK after that.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee... I'm not sure that was the cause, but will pay more attention... I rarely sit for long with the clutch depressed. Any more than a few seconds and it's into to neutral and off the clutch. However, I've been getting into the habit of depressing the clutch for a couple of seconds before sliding into first to avoid the "thunk" you get if you do it straight away.
