Thought I'll starts something ligh hearted.
In my heart, I was just thinking (yeap, in this case one think with his heart) does the 8 possesses a soul? Some cars have soul, some cars don't. Some got more soul and then the others.
I've used to own a Miata, men, that car is full of soul. Personally, I feel back then lots of cars have alot of soul where as the newer make of cars just don't... have it.
What do you think? The RX8, doesn't it has a soul. Frankly, it has not quite comes to me yet, may be after my delivery, and driving for a while, I might just find it.

If you mean "soul" as in jive talking and collard greens, no.
If you mean an intangible essence that survives biological death, no.
If you mean character and personality, then a resounding yes. The car can be looked upon as a complex organism with multiple intertwining systems that, when considered together, can be seen as some type of "being". Add a biological component (driver) and with all the systems the sum of the parts becomes greater than the sum of the individual pieces.
Because of the uniqueness of some of the "systems" it seems to really have a personalilty. Not like so many of the mass produced transportation pods out there on the roads.

Metaphorically, absolutely yes! This car is not a derivative of any other car, nor does it originate from the parts bins of other cars. It comes from the hearts and minds of Mazda engineers against all odds.
In order to accomplish that feat, Mazda engineers had to put their reputation, THEIR very souls on the line to come up with a fresh design, using POSITIVE imagination to, literally, create a car like no other IN THIS WORLD!
The result is similar to other great feats of man, and in the quality of the result, however flawed, one can 'read' the 'souls' whose energy made it possible to go from idea to physical reality.
YES, a soul definitely!

Yeah my RX8 had a soul too but i beat it in mortal combat and now i can run 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds.
