mikeb 09-19-2003, 02:58 PM wait, why?
Is the white on the car decals and please tell me the lights on the roof arent bolted on the car
IWANTMYRX8 09-19-2003, 04:59 PM Yea....Why?
And I don't know bout out there, but here it's illegal to have a lightbar on any veh unltess its "registered" as an emergency vehicle, or if it's a volunteer fire/ems person (and then it can't be red/blu).....

VividRacing.com 09-19-2003, 05:24 PM He's a local guy that builds police cars for the local departments. I guess he just wanted to make a toy. The rule in AZ is that you can't have any color lights or lenses facing the front or rear of the vehilcle. So that is why he is using led lighting.

Indeed, those red-and-blues in the grille could earn you a ride in a real Texas cop car, too.

Why would LED lighting get him off the hook? It still looks like a cop car and it would be serious fines.
I like the concept. A WRX would make a good cop car.

sandiegorx8 09-19-2003, 06:19 PM Why not?! Cops here have these cars. They usually are a DARE project car or some kind of PR car for the police departments at schools and stuff. I've even seen a ZX12R in cop mode. Now that's fast. I think it's a good thing. It gets kids interested in law enforcement and learning respect for the law enforcement folks. If nothing else it gets thier attention when the speaker comes in for an assembly, sorta like the dogs do. I seriously doubt this will be on the street everyday as a daily driver for a uniformed officer. Some states, like Hawaii, don't have that many marked cars. They let the cops pick the car on pay back system, I've seen TRD 4 Runners and Camry's and Cobra Mustangs there as cop cars all the time. What's the difference?
mikeb 09-19-2003, 06:40 PM I think its unique dont get me wrong
I just wanted to know more so I could understand it

Really? There's a car u dont wanna run from. They can probably take most cars on AND off the road
they used to have a couple of marked cars running around over here as well,
if your gonna catch the criminal nutters you've got to have the horsepower.
i remember seeing a couple of photo's in autoexpress years ago, i'll have a dig and see if i can find any on the net.

The coppers got wise over here 5-6 years ago after WRX's kept getting stollen and used in ram raids... in the cities, the rexxies could easily out run the big V8 patrol cars they used here...
Mysta316 09-23-2003, 10:34 AM here in vancouver washington we really do have a WRX that is a cop car. its the nasty yellow color. it has rims and is lowerd with a fart can on it. it has lights in the rear window with window tint that is dark enough so you cant see them. and the same in the front. kinda sucks.
