So I'm not exactly all that familiar with the engine workings of the 8 so I was hoping some of you all could maybe give me some suggestion. I went to start my 8 today and it just wouldn't start. The battery is still good we had it tested, so that's not the problem but we couldn't figure out what's the issue... anybody?

Have you got the new starter upgrade

Does the starter turn it over?

Does it just click?

Do the headlights dim when you try to start?

Nothing, not even a click?

Unless the starter upgrade was in the last recall no.
And it's turning over just not starting.
One of my friends is saying it's possibly either not getting fuel or a spark.
As far as the headlights dimming I'm not sure haven't turned the headlights on while trying to start it.

So I would be correct in assuming that the car being flooded is not letting the engine warm up appropriately ???

maybe the engine flooded; my mazda dealer called me in for a recall and i was just talking to one of ladies that worked there. And she was tellin me about how shes heard of a lot of 8's coming in because people dont warm up the engine before driving it. People have mixed opinons about waiting in their car for 10 min everytime they want to drive haha. But just a possibility.

I never really warm mine except for winter time.

During Winter, is good to warm your car up before you going anywhere(or shutting it off), with or without rotary engine.

Shit.... it just hit me. I was moving the 8 from the side of the street to in the driveway... that's what must have done it. I was in rush for school and I shut it off almost immediately after moving it. Not long enough for it to warm up :"-( . SO then this leads me to my next question. How do you solve this and will the dealership cover it?

Well then, read your owners manual and it will tell you how to recover from a flood.

it does matter to warm up before driving the RX8 because the oil is too thick at low temps to ensure proper lubrication. Or you can drive it but just don't go over 4000 rpm.

hold Start for 10 sec. w/pedal to floor, then release pedal and continue holding start for 10 more seconds.

Do that 3 or 4 times... otherwise, replace spark plugs

I tried it today but still no luck... I'm starting to think the problem might be a little more severe than anticipated... I'll be taking it to the dealership tomorrow.

no it probably isn't . That method will work for mild flooding but sounds like yours is more severe .
You should read up some more .....

That worked for me -- what a relief! I kept the gas pedal depressed for ten seconds while starting it, then released the pedal but kept the starter going and it started right up. I highly recommend these steps to anyone who experiences a flooded engine in the future.

Just an update for anyone who was any kind of curious I took the 8 to the dealership and they did say it was flooded, and they replaced my battery and starter. So yea...

but thanks to everyone who helped or even suggested anything I appreciate it.
