So far i have my eye on the Greddy, B&B, and HKS!! Anyone wanna give me there opinion one these exhause or one of there own. THX :cwm27:

+1 HKS exhaust are great, im not sure about the rx8 version but they usually have those 2 blue rings at the tip, they look and sound awsome

This thread is very valid. He just wants LIVE feedback. I've searched and came up with things from 2004, and a lot of things have changed since then. For example, 2004 there were not many aftermarket exhausts out there, so people recommended the same old stuff, ask that same question today and you'll get a plethora of choices and replies.
so what's wrong with asking this question?
Anyways, I am currently looking at the HKS, but from what i've seen it is only a SINGLE outlet and not a Dual like other aftermarkets.
The MS and borla sounds great, the Greddy SP sounds *different* IMO I like the deep, throaty exhaust note. so HKS might be the one...

I have a Rev8 on my car and personally like it a lot. It has a nice tone under WOT and doesn't scream," here I am pull me over" Don't expect "substantial Hp gain from any exhaust, especially one for an engine displacing only 1.3. that's wishful thinking on your part and advertising BS for manufacturers. Just my 2 cents and good luck on your next post dude. Oh yeah I almost forgot, go ahead and post pix of your exhaust when you get it with a nice sound clip.

I doubt it. I wouldn't expect substantial improvement with just and exhaust mod. IMO other aspects of the car would have to be addressed :)
BigRed 03-25-2007, 05:43 PM I have the HKS Legamax exhuast and I truly love it!!!!! It looks extremely nice and is very well made. The welds are like a perfect set of a roll of coins. Oh yeah, and it sounds real nice too. :ylsuper:

Answer to your question -
The stock exhaust is already 2 3/4" and the aftermarkets only go to 3". Cause of that, even if you put on a high flow cat you are still restricted at the header.
Not even the high flow cat and aftermarket exhaust will give you substantial gains maybe 10 - 12 max at the wheels. The biggest reason for this is Mazda engineering did a great job on intake and exhaust flow.
There was an article in Sport Compact Car a while back... I posted it (search for threads I was involved in) Racing Beat did a real dyno test with there exhaust and they did not net very much in the way of gains.
WHat people are posting is correct. With a N/A (naturally aspirated) car it's tough to make substantial HP gains without investing some serious ching.
If you are looking to spend some money then you might as well go Forced Induction (turbo or super charger) with an engine management system.
Also to throw another exhaust out there... try a Tanabe Super Medallion. Great price and beautifully made exhaust with a low throaty tone.

snizzle 03-26-2007, 12:41 PM I would be concerned about weight if anything. HP gains are next to nothing. Sound is obviously different but hard to gauge unless you're hearing it in person. Plenty of clips floating around if you want to try....
