View Full Version : New Rims Lost in Mail?
tevaburns 03-21-2007, 10:40 PM I ordered a set of Enkei RPF1s 18x9.5 from Good-Win Racing. I'm SUPER EXCITED!
I expected them to arrive tuesday but nothing came.. So I checked the tracking only to see there were on vehicle for delivery in Reading, PA. That's close to Rochester Michigan right?
Here's the trackinghttp://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/processRequest?HTMLVersion=5.0&Requester=NES&AgreeToTermsAndConditions=yes&loc=en_US&tracknum=1ZA3800FA847046797
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
tevaburns 03-21-2007, 10:43 PM I just checked again, looks like they are lost in the PA feedback loop.
I Called UPS but all they did was read me the damn online tracking, USELESS.
Is some dude in a UPS shipping room yanking my rims and filling the boxes with chia pets and pocket fishermans?
paulmasoner 03-21-2007, 10:45 PM yes. you should get revenge. run amuk, butt-naked with a raging boner. be sure to bludgeon plenty of innocent women, and knock a bird or 7 out of flight with your precise aiming skills
tevaburns 03-22-2007, 07:34 PM Dude, you're messed up!
anyway, 2 of the rims arrived today, the other boxed pair is somewhere in OH.
I took a couple pic before taking them to the local tire place with 2 of my new tires:

These 275 look sick. I probly could have gone with 255s and been happy.
I haven't weighted the combo, but I swear they are lighter than stock.
dshiznit1489 03-22-2007, 07:38 PM do these have tpms?
DarkBrew 03-22-2007, 07:45 PM Nice!
Pics installed soon?
tevaburns 03-22-2007, 07:48 PM Yes, Yes they do. RPF1+TPMS is ALL GOOD.
I hated having to pay a tire place to get the TPMS pods out of the summer set of stockies. I've lived with the blinky yellow tire light with the winter set of stockies. Now I have an extra set of RX-8 wheels. :boring:
Razz1 03-22-2007, 09:59 PM Nice
Cody Red 03-22-2007, 10:09 PM Those are nice. Take some pics with them on the car when you've received the others.

tevaburns 03-25-2007, 04:47 PM I've had these on for 2 daysnow and compared to photos of every other car on this forum with these rims mine stick out funny.
It's possible that is just a combination of:
1. Do goodyears run WIDE? (275/35)
2. The stock ride height vs. lowered (I'm stock)
3. non-stock brake rotors. (I have Powerslots)
I took some photos and measurements you could compare with your rides:

CTrx8 03-25-2007, 04:55 PM what's your offset?
tevaburns 03-25-2007, 05:06 PM They're 18x9.5 at +45mm (supposed to be anyway)
BigRed 03-25-2007, 05:53 PM any pics from the side of the car just for kicks?
swoope 03-25-2007, 06:11 PM http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
plug in the #s and you will understand.

tevaburns 03-25-2007, 10:57 PM Hey Swoope, Thanks for not actually reading the thread. Your calculator has nothing to do with this. There is a lot of info on these wheels on our cars but there isn't much on how much they stickout of the wheel wells at stock ride height. Lowering the car helps correct this apparently. Hey Swoope... send us a link to a lowering & camber calculator.
I've gotten some PM's and emails about this. Guys running these wheels with an agressive drop are running something like 1.5 degrees of negative camber. In the next couple weeks I'll install Tien S-Techs and Tokico D-specs (they've been sitting in my living room for a couple weeks now).
Tomorrow I'll try wash the car and take some better photos.

really,
well after you drop it are you going to have it aligned? your s techs and d specs dont change the offset or where the outside of the wheel sits.
my springs are lower than what you are going to put on...
the calculator expains why the rim is where it is... it is not your rotors or anything else you asked about.. btw. a 275 is pretty much a 275. and your stock springs dont change where your tires are located. yes i read the thread..
sounds like you dont know what you are doing, and did not study before you jumped.
to be honest, with the springs you are putting on you should be fine... you should not need some crazy bad handling alignment settings...
o wait you are stuffing 275s in a car that was design for 225s.

this will help also...
dont blame me.

CosmosMpower 03-26-2007, 08:31 AM That's what you get shipping them with UPS ;) Really nice wheels though, I'm jealous.

SHEEESH.
1. if an after market rotor isn't the same thickness as OEM that it'll have an effect just like a different offset. (this was an issue on my brother's civic, wrong rotors).
2. Not all tires are created equal, my 225 snows are noticeably wider than my 225 stocks. I've owned a lot of tires over the years.
3. Springs... or really "suspension level at rest" does make a difference in the wheel's position RELATIVE to the fender. As the suspension arms or linkages raise the effective distance from the car's center to the edge of wheel decreases AND negative camber increases. It's geometry.
tevaburns 03-26-2007, 06:09 PM There are a few below but LOTS in a Flickr Set: (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tevaburns/sets/72157594463515029/)

BigRed 03-26-2007, 07:11 PM that jars my memory, I WANT THOSE!!!!
swoope 03-26-2007, 07:32 PM they really look very good.. and nice shots.

Dinhx8 03-27-2007, 10:39 AM looks really good, how do you like the Goodyears?
I'm planning on getting some shortly as well.
Nemesis8 03-27-2007, 11:47 AM No way I can tuck 275's under my settings, but I like those rims.
Endless Rotaries 03-27-2007, 05:15 PM Did goodwin provide you with "metal hubrings"? it didn't appear to have them in the photo. Did they provide you the option?
It's a camber issue with stock ride height. I have my camber maxed to full positive adjustment and i'm lowered 2.5", i have a MAXED out the settings and still have -2.5 degs in the rear. Totally whack, i need to get some hard parts so I can dial in a little more positive camber in the rear. Supposedly JIC is gonna come out with this part.

Goodwin Sells a set of plastic HUBRINGS. They arrived after install, cause I ordered them as an after thought. Haven't installed them yet.
RXLogic 04-10-2007, 03:29 PM I just got a set of RPF1s from Tire Rack. I mistakenly thought they would some with centering rings and I also thought I could transfer the stock rings. Wrong on both counts.
Furthermore, the rings are out of stock at tirerack, so I ordered them from Goodwin.
Which leaves with the following question:
Will the caps snap on after I put on the wheels, or do I have to wait for the caps?
Endless Rotaries 04-10-2007, 06:54 PM FYI, Metal hubrings for the RPF1's $20.00 shipped.
The caps can snap on with the wheels on the car. no worries.
i have the caps in stock as well.

Hubrings = Centering rings?

Good, because impatience already trumped expediency... the wheels are on the car.
Endless Rotaries 04-10-2007, 07:12 PM lolz....
Impatience is a virtue. hehehehe.
Ya centering rings, same difference.

tevaburns 05-20-2007, 11:10 PM Finally dropped the car. Tokico D-Spec & Tein S-Techs. Got the car aligned at -1 degree neg camber, over the next 2 weeks the new suspension settled and I started getting a little rubbing with moderate pavement changes. Had it aligned again at -1.3 ALL GOOD.

hitman408 05-20-2007, 11:15 PM Looks nice, can you notice the extra grip w/ the bigger tires?
tevaburns 05-20-2007, 11:19 PM Looks nice, can you notice the extra grip w/ the bigger tires?
Extra Grip? Like you wouldn't believe! The same onramps and exit ramps I can take 10mph faster and no tire squeal. Now you have to empty the seats & trunk or have things TIED down.
ac3mastuh 05-21-2007, 09:06 AM 275's look so cool on an 8
lovin the rims man!
Razz1 07-15-2007, 01:37 PM Start a new thread with all the information.
Wheel mfgr. Size off set etc..
MI_FamilyMan 07-15-2007, 01:37 PM For the uneducated, what is the function of the "centering" rings and are they needed?
t-run/8 07-15-2007, 04:14 PM I'm not a big fan of RPF-1s but congrats on the purchase
