There has been some talk of an official thread....I haven't seen one as of yet...so I will create one here.

The track day has been tentatively set for May 5, 2007.

Location is Toronto Motorsports Park. We will be running the Park Circuit Track, which is 3.0 kms long.

Registration Deadline is March 31, 2007.

Cost is $150 / car; $50 / additional driver; Spectators $10
For drivers at reduced rates, they must be a significant other (or dependent)

Duration of the day is 9 am - 5 pm. A very full day at the track.

The following clubs have been invited:

Toronto Mazda 6 (obviously)
Cleveland Mazda 6
Toronto Mazda 3
Toronto Mazda Rx-8

A $75 Deposit is required by March 23, 2007. The deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Any others expressing an interest are certainly welcomed. Our goal is to have 40-50 vehicles attending this event.

Provide your own lunch, or you can purchase lunch ahead of time for an additional $20 due upon remaining balance of deposit.

Please post here to express an interest.

Deposits are due soon. Paypal accounts will be in place later today.

Neo, Khan can you please point people in this direction please.

I'm in, I would either take my RX-8 or Protege (if I can get my new suspension installed in time).

I will Paypal the deposits later to confirm. =)

Looking forward to this.

I'm interested.
Will instruction be provided, if not will novices be allowed?
Is it open lapping or are there going to be seperate run groups?

I am most likely in.

I emailed him about the details and they are still sorting things out, but once more people show interest things will fall into place. What he told for sure, is that there will be groups and at most there will be 10 cars on the track (3km) at any one time.

What is the lapping time? 9-5?

CLaman

Rockstar:
Lapping time is 9-5 yes...a full 8 hour day

Any vehicle shape or size is permitted

Gecko:
Helmets are only required on convertables.

Paypal is the only current method, but you can send a cheque/money order directly to me if you wish.

Alrib:
Instruction is being arranged...it may or may not happen, at this pioint we are kkeping our fingers crossed that it will. But yes novices are welcomed. Many of us are track "virgins" in my club...which is why we want to go and learn.

It will be divisional groups. The lapping details are still trying to be worked out as Mr.Bangle confirmed.

I'm very interested.
$50 for the additional driver is excellent...I was thinking of bringing my g/f. Would she be able to run my 8 in with the novice lappers, and then I can go out with the more experienced runners? or would that just be a logistical nightmare?
Also, when I am running can I bring my g/f as a passenger? I've been to a couple of lapping days at mosport and sometimes they allow passenger sometimes they don't.

Thanks.

Helmets are only required on convertables.

Helmets should not be optional when you get on the track, seriously.

For most first timers, they dont usually have halmets, and I believe for most experience drivers they will bring their halmet regardless.

Well, I think I'm in for the day.. maybe I'll bring my 8 and my Speed 6 if I have a second driver to bring the car down to the track.

Climacus....I'm merely replying to the post. Toronto Motorsports does NOT require a helmet unles the car is a convertable. The choice is the individual driver's. Myself included, are track virgins, and are going for a day of fun....being once in a blue moon....the cost for a helmet is just not worth going to the track.

deposits can be paypalled to tm6.accounts.1@torontomazda6.com

there is a lot less interest in the different forums and clubs than we anticipated. In the event we can not get a full 30 to attend we may have to look at a half day rental, and the rates will be reduced.

If we can not get 14 people the event will have to be cancelled.

Deposits are due by tommorrow evening.

Wicked, another RX-8 and Speed6 owner. What's up!

I would love to attend, only as a spectator though. :)

If you don't get enough, what will the fee be for half a day? I'd be happy with a half day track day.

CLaman
03-21-2007, 11:27 AM
we are sorting the fees out as we speak. doing what we can on our end. I'm working hard at this because I don't want people to be caught off guard.

Honesty is the best measure....or so I've been taught...and thats all I'm trying to bring to you guys.

As of right now...the meet is in a re-scheduling state.

Any news on instructors?

No problem CLaman.

But I think I should ask this for everyone's benefit. How and who should I contact IF I pay my deposit tomorrow, and then the event is rescheduled on a date that I am not available, and would require a refund of my deposit?

CLaman
03-23-2007, 05:59 PM
it would be me, and via email

It's with regret i have to inform you all...

Event has been suspended. I didn't receive enough deposits to run the event.

The deposit I have received is being returned.

Terribly sorry guys, I was really hoping to get this one off the ground. Maybe next time.

I really appreciate all of the interest you folks showed...but even in my own club where we've been discussing this for months, nothing was sprung forward.

Sad to hear that, I was just about pay my deposit when I got home.

Thanks for the effort CLaman. I know it is hard to organize something like this.

On one hand, it is difficult for the organizer to set a date and book the track without enough deposits. At the same time, it is hard for ppl with interest to pay a deposit without first nothing a concrete date.

Hope next time we can do it.

funny things is, Maxbimmer gets their events full (30 ppl) in a few days. I guess having a steady track going crowd is a big plus.

I am going to Shannoville with them on April 19th, will see how the 8 (and my lack of skill) do against track going Beemers.

Davut

The 8 should be competitive with any 3 series, don't let us down, j/k =p
