ask yourself what games are you gonna play i bought all 3 systems personally, but for me a lot of the games i want to play (not out yet) have classically been sony exclusive so forced to buy one or the other id get the PS3 coz i love my final fantasy, GT, and GTA (apparently thats gonna cross platform though). Think about why you're buying each system.

PS3

...jk. Only because I prefer the current games available for the 360 (and in the future).

i'm a fan of the ps3. i've a 62' hd 1080p though. and blueray is freakin awesome. hd dvd is the suck. fight night round 3 and fall of man will keep you busy for many many months. and there's always great free demos on the FREE online network. a gran tourismo demo too!!!! xbox xcharges if i'm not mistaken. and despite what you may have heard, unless you really have to be able to find all your friends quickly, ps3's online rocks. very simple and smooth.

Why not actually think about what you want instead of asking a random group of people who know nothing about you for advice!? No one can tell you what works best for you....... I'm with Feras though, buy all 3.... equal opportunity gaming.

the 360 is that good that it is fun even for me.

I got both,
PS3 is pretty dry right now, i only play resistence on it
while I play gears of war, viva pinata, rainbow 6 and ghost recon 2 on my xbox360..

so right now theres no question that xbox360 has better games,

but if you look at the future releases thats coming out, PS3's list is a lot better with huge japanese hits like tekken, virtua fighter, final fantasy, resident evil, dynasty warriors, metal gear solid, gran turismo 5, I tend to prefer Japanese games over American, and Xbox360 sells like shit in Japan so it gets much less support.

I think i will end up liking the PS3 much more once the games starts to roll out, last year this time my Xbox360 was in the same boat as PS3 right now,. My xbox360 was not being used much at all until Christmas 2006 when the big hits started to roll out.

i got so excited when i saw a ps3 in target, then i looked up and saw there was only like 6 games....my excitement fell, i didnt bother to buy it.

why the hell would i pay 500 or 600 or what ever it costs now, when there are no games for it.

maybe i will buy it when gt5 comes out,but not before then.

The PS3 is $599 at target, there was a motto game loaded, and it looked assume. 360 is $400 and many more games. Guess I will wait and see how many games come out for the PS3.

thanks all.

You should either wait or get a 360.

Right now the 360 is MUCH MUCH more appealing. Their games line up is awesome. Lots of good games coming out too.

The PS3 has huge potential but it's wasted right now PLUS it's horrendously expensive. Playstation Home was just announced and that looks very cool. It's a combination of XBoxLive, Nintendo Miis, the Sims, and a MMORPG and FOR FREE. (XboxLive costs money, not much, but it costs money).

If you can, I'd wait for like a half year or year to see how the PS3 is doing before buying. If not, I'd get the 360 for now. Dead Rising, Gears of War, Oblivion with Mass Effect, Bioshock, Blue Dragon coming out soon. The PS3? Resistance: Fall of Man. With... hmmm nothing appealing to me in the near future.

The other thing to is I would wait to find nice deals.

I got my 360 (premium) for $299 after rebate. ($100 mail in rebate. I have the check already).

PS3 will own X-Box360 in every way by the turn of next year. Consider the fact that Blu Ray players are $1000 right now and its not such a bad deal. Prices will come down though.

The new releases for PS3 will get more and more expansive, graphic intense, and in depth. PS3 will not hit its platue for many years, whereas XBox360 will be tapped out in the next 3 or so years, needing either an expensive upgrade or new platform release for microsoft. In the long term PS3 will prove to be the better buy.

I agree right now XBox has better games, and if your looking for more instant gratification than its not a bad system, but PS3 will win the long battle. Just my oppinion being a computer animation major, I trust the PS3 platform more.

my .02, not saying Im right, just speaking my mind.

Sony has designed a BluRay player for sale that costs less than the PS3 now. And the reason the PS3 won't hit it's plateau for a few years? It's because it's difficult to code for. Sony is notorious for this fact. Ask chr1s or any developer of games. And you have to remember, while the PS3's CPU is definitely better than the 360's, the GPU is not. The CPU is used to do computational things and a lot of the graphical things are pushed to the GPU.

So theoretically the 360 should have better graphics than the PS3. On the other hand the Cell processor would allow the PS3 to do some insane computations for things like a great physics engine (which unfortunately a great deal of games will NOT use even close to the computational power the Cell can provide) and the BluRay disc should be able to hold a lot more data. Whether or not the extra space is necessary remains to be seen though.

So in the long run, the PS3 does seem to have better lasting power, but the 360 doesn't really have any big weaknesses compared to the PS3 that I can see. What's going to make/break these systems really are the exclusives line up. I highly doubt the 360 will be "tapped out" in 3 years while the PS3's stuff just gets better and better. If the 360 runs out of space, they can always just goto multi disc games, which really isn't that annoying considering you should only need to swap discs every few hours of game play. Plus do you really think many games will require that much computational power? When games get TOO complex, they can lose a lot of the fun factor.

Also for the long run thing... the Wii's lasting power isn't as long as the other 2 since it's not HD. But you know what? Say in 5 years, Nintendo makes a new console with HD power and sells it for 300 bucks. That plus the older Wii STILL cost LESS than the PS3...
