I had to replace the 10amp fuse in the driverside fuse box, the fuse i had to replace was for the instrament panel. When that fuse is out the car won't start. i was wonder why this was, and if there was a way around it.

 

The instrument panel is required for the PCM to do its thing.
Why would you want to get around it?

 

What is the PCM you refer too?

 

The car's main computer which controls everything namely the engine among other things.

 

if that the case...then there is there no way to stop the car form accumulating extra KM or Miles. am i correct? or is there an alternate way?

 

^sounds like you have gone over on your lease km/miles and are now trying to find a way to stop the odo

 

This is not like older cars that had mechanical connections to the transmission for the speedometer that could be disconnected to do what you want. It's electronic in this car. There may be a way to do it but I don't know. You do realize that if this is a lease car or if you intend to sell it later with the stated mileage that you are breaking the law don't you. That could potentially come back to haunt you pretty bad.

 

Try chalking up the wheels on jack stands and running the car in reverse....

My buddy pulled the ABS fuse and it stopped his odometer. That was on a Dodge Truck though. It might be worth a shot, the only thing is the ABS light will be on, and oh yeah of course you wont have ABS anymore

 

It doesn't work like that.
The odo reading is a calibration between the cluster and the PCM. Both communicate with each other over the CAN bus and must be in agreement, or your immobilizer will kick you out.

Why don't you find a used car dealer and ask who they use to roll odometers back?

I assume you have some legitimate reason for doing this.

 

I can't think of a legit reason for doing this. All I can think of has been mentioned already. It must be a lease that is going over it's alloted mileage which gets expensive. I'd be very curious to hear an alternate justification.

 

My car is Brand New only bought it in October... and i didn't lease the car.
I have no reason really, just when the fuse blew and the car wouldn't start till the spare was put it, it made my mind wonder. I know with honda you can pull the fuse. Sometime my curosity get the better of me.
