I picked up my red RX-8 about a month ago and I've loved it since Anyways... I was browsing through the boards and I followed a link out of the boards to a picture of some gauges. I noticed underneath the gauges that it had the RX-8 center console display. This one has something mine doesn't... On the right hand side of the display is a little fan looking thing with two blocks in it (and room for more). Mine has this, but it's never illuminated. I was wondering if this just had something to do with maybe XM Sat Radio or was it the AC fan level? Thanks for the help

 

That's only used on cars with the automatic climate control (which is not available in North America). I believe it indicates fan speed.

yup thats in our Mazda 6 with climate control but not my RX8

 

If it makes anyone feel better, those who have automatic climate control in Japan say it doesn't work very well.

You wind up doing things manually anyway.

HeTz, those are nice guages above the 'information display'. Boy, I would like to have those on my '8'!

 

Related loss: a short time after having my 8 hand-washed last weekend I noticed the digital ambient temperature display had gone out. And it hasn't come back on. Does anyone know where the outside temperature sensor is located on the car? I suspect a wire got pulled.

I would take that to the dealer

 

try hitting the AMB button on the top right corner of the console immediately to the right of the DISP button

one time i accidentally grazed it and thought id destroyed something, turned it back on a day later when i remembered theres a button for it, its possible someone (or you) grazed it
