Here's the deal. I have a media card reader sitting here with my computer that I'd like to put to use. Only problem is that I have a driver for it but I get an error message saying "Please plug properly reader". If anyone knows what I to do I'd appreciate ya telling me. At the very least I'd like to know what my options are other than have it sit there. I've included a quick pic if it'll help any.
The driver is for:
File Description: 8-in-1 Media Card Reader update
Version: 1.1
Operating System: Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP
Part Number: 9528779

Goto to the manufacturer's website and download the most up to date driver, uninstall anything you currently have installed relating to the reader and retry it

Just one problem. I don't know who the manufacturer is. It originally came with my old computer but I have since changed a number of things. The original system itself was an open item so it had no paperwork, no programs, no driver discs nothing except the tower, keyboard, and a mouse I had to grab from a shelf.
All I have is the barcode on the thing. If anyone knows a place I can punch it in let me know.

Maybe a better picture of the reader would help.

You can try searching here:
http://www.driverguide.com/
They have a search feature that can help you identify the manufacturer.

Coming to the Chicago Rotary meet on March 3rd? Bring the piece with and I will try to help.
I just did a search on your listed part number.

Tried the driver, didn't work got the same message as before. Also the part number listed is part of the Read Me .txt file that came with the driver I was trying to use. I think the problem is that the driver isn't for this exact piece of hardware. Unfortunately I have my moron ex-friend to thank for all these problems because I lost the last functioning driver I had when he reinstalled his hacked copy of windows. Fun...
Well windows does not recognize the device. The USB portion works just not the card reader portion, but the little. I wonder if the card reader portion is fried seeing as how the computer is telling me the device has "malfunctioned". I'm going to keep looking around to see what I can find. If it helps I can specify what kind of cards the reader can handle.
If anyone wants to try themselves the information above the barcode is Rev.13.1-1.2(V1.8C)
Below the code is IO200447311938
Edit-
I can't find anything for this device. At this point I have to assume its been fried or just that I'm not going to be able to find the driver. Thanks for all your help everyone. I'll check back in after I've checked prices on external drives.

You could get a Mitsumi floppy disk/7 in 1 card reader. It's a floppy drive with all the memory card slots integrated into the front. I have one and it works pretty well, runs around $20-$25.

I was thinking along those lines actually. I went out to Best Buy and purchased a Dynex internal card reader. Cost me all of $18 and change after tax. Only downside is that the mounting screws provided are way too short for my tower. I wound up borrowing two longer screws from a cold cathode mounted around one of the fans.
Thanks for your help everyone!
Btw anyone need a paperweight?
