I have scoured the internet all day looking for problems with RX-8's and solutions, its seems the big complaints are tires (lack of snow traction), oil consumption, and flooding. The flooding seems to be fixable by new flashes, and tires, well, buy new tires. The oil consumption is understandable. Is there anything else to watch for? Any big problems? How many miles will a rotary last?

Tires are NOT a problem. The 8 comes with "summer performance tires " which are not supposed to be used in winter conditions. So whenever you read about "lack of snow traction" it simply means some moron is using summer tires on snow—which is tantamount to walking on ice with smooth-soled leather dress shoes.

...How many miles will a rotary last?
How many miles will a piston engine last? Yes. The absurdity of this question can be mirrored and goes both ways.

not absurd really, let me rephrase, what is the most miles someone has seen with a rotary. There are some engines that last a long time. ex. toyota 4 cylidner, well over 200k

Right on. I kind of knew what you meant, but wanted you to reflect on your question. It's like plainly asking, "what's better? Nike or adidas?"
Yes. Some Toyota 4-bangers do last WAY over 200k. Then, again, most don't. If you want to know the most miles anyone here's put on a RENESIS, you should use the search botton on the upper right hand-side of your screen. There are a ton of mileage (MPG, Maint. intervals, etc) threads on this site. However, keep in mind that the 8 has only been around since 2003. Other rotary engines (e.g. 12A-13B) have different capacities and outputs.
In under 5 years, for the RENESIS, only the most commuting sobs have been privvy to putting that much road under their cars...

It all depends how nice you are to it. Rotaries can probably last forever if it's taken care of and driven liberally. But if you're gonna mod it, then maybe not... but the same can be said about piston motors.

Well, seems to be an engine worthy of building a racing class around because of its longevity under extreem conditions.
