Repainting VR rear bumper BB - how & will it look ok?

I am thinking of having a good body shop paint a stock Velocity Red rear bumper Brilliant Black to match my car. Will it be possible and look okay?

I am unsure of the process of repainting a plastic body piece where the original color is not the same as the final color.

Does the body shop blast it or sand it off? Or do they just basically paint black over the red?

Thanks for any advice/opinions/thoughts!

it'll be fine as long as there is nothing wrong w/ the stock bumper. basically stripping the clear and paint and starting over.

Thanks NgoRX8. Unfortunately, I'll have to buy new exhaust shrouds. I wonder how much those will be.

the bodyshop will be sanding it back, then prime it then prepare the surface, then paint it in BB colour. it will be fine, as long as the bodyshop dude knows what he is doing.

So I went to onlinemazdaparts.com and this is what they list as the part of the rear bumper:

Bumper cover
Filler
Guard
Reinforcement
Retaining brkt
Splash shield
Tow hook

I don't see anything about shrouds. I searched "exhaust" and "shrouds" and the right part did not come up.

Would it be filler or splash shield?

Thanks!
