I know this is a repost (from 2004) But I feel it needs to be shown again before it's forgotten and for the new people that haven't seen it.

I dont see how a bone stock rx8 could have a higher average speed the the 787B.
232hp vs 700hp
street car vs LMP style race car
What am I missing here... traffic?

The 787B raced around an actual road course in a race, therefore it had to slow down for various turns, dodge traffic, etc. This test involving the RX-8 was around a gigantic oval. It was pedal to the medal for 24 hours straight, no slowing down aside from pit stops.

Think they got through that run on less than one quart of burned oil?
I am not complaining. I love burning oil!

I wonder why it says they were in 6th gear instead of 5th - you won't run out of room in 5th in this car (147 is the highest I've hit, which is about the top speed)

^ I would imagine for fuel economy - less pit stops if you are in 6th, i would imagine.
